Sub.: Observance of 31* National Road Safety Week 2020 from 11% January to 17%
January 2020
It has been decided to observe 31% National Road Safety Week 2020 from 11%
January to 17" January 2020. In this regard, it is informed that all ROs/PIUs of NHAI
will observe road safety week starting from 11* January to 17" January 2020. Project
Directors are hereby directed to observe the Road Safety Week and put the banners,
Posters at PIUs, work sites and at important locations like Toll Plazas Road junctions
etc. Pamphlets may be distributed for awareness of Road Safety,
2. __ In this connection, MoRTH has conveyed the theme for the Road Safety Week for
2020 as “Sadak Suraksha-Jeevan Raksha”. It is requested that, in order to carry out the
road safety activities in a befitting manner, involvement of all the concerned
stakeholders may be ensured, All stakeholders and the Public at large may be
encouraged to participate. It is also requested that, the following main activities that
can be undertaken by all field offices of NHAI under their respective jurisdiction:
3, Activities to be carried out prior to “Road Safety Week”
(i) RO should call a review meeting in advance with all the PDs, IEs/AEs and
Safety Consultants to observe the road safety week in an appropriate manner.
(ii) Prior to Safety week, RO and PD should analyze accident data for at least last.
two years and identify the accident prone stretches alongwith MoRTH
identified blackspots.
(iii) RO/PD/IE/AE/Safety Consultant should visit NH stretches and critically
assess/review the road safety features viz. important junctions, crossing
facilities, blackspots, service roads, crash barriers, road signages/marking
and ensure these to be in place in functional condition.
(iv) RO/PD/Concessionaire/IE/AE should take steps to display banners/boards to
show accident prone locations.

5. Activities to be carried out after “Road Safety Week”
RO will submit a consolidated State-wise report of each project stretch (under their
jurisdiction) about the activity undertaken with photographs and videos, within a
week after the “Road Safety Week”.
