Humility

James 4:6 “God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.”
1Samuel 15:17 “So Samuel said, "When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And
did not the LORD anoint you king over Israel?”
Philippians 2:5-8 “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not con-
sider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming
in the likeness of men . . . humbled Himself and became obedient to death”
Luke 14:11 “Whosoever exalts himself shall be abased; but he that humbles himself shall be exalted.”
1 Cor. 4:7 “For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive (as an undeserved
gift from God)? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?”
Romans 11:36 “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to Whom be glory forever. Amen.”
John 3:30 “He must increase, but I must decrease” John 15:5 “For without Me you can do nothing.”
1 Cor. 15:10a “But by the grace of God I am what I am “
Romans 7:18 “I know that in me, (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing”
Philippians 2:3 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem oth-
ers better than himself.”
Humility is . . . teachable, correctable, trainable, able to readily admit when it is wrong, free from wanting the praise of
man, free from the fear of man, knows that it is needy, poor, dependent, and helpless without God’s undeserved grace, it
esteems others highly. Humility realizes that all goodness comes only from God and therefore the glory belongs to Him.

Purity of Heart
Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

Proverbs 22:11 “He who loves purity of heart and has grace on his lips, The King will be his friend.”

John 7:18 “He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is
true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.”

Mark 12:30 “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and
with all your strength. This is the first commandment.”

Philippians 2:3 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem oth-
ers better than himself.”

Ephesians 6:5-8 “Servants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in
singleness of your heart, as unto Christ, not with eyeservice (working harder when the boss is looking and less when he
is not looking) as menpleasers, but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with good will doing
service, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive
from the Lord, whether he is in bondage or free.”

Purity of Heart . . . is a heart without mixed motives, a heart that does everything out of love for God. It is motivated
with a yearning to see God glorified, not self. Purity of heart does all things “as unto the Lord”, knowing that God sees
all things, even deep into our hearts, and that He rewards whatever good we do if it is done secretly as unto Him.
