a. What did the narrator and his grandfather find on the veranda steps?
Ans. The narrator and his grandfather found a baby owlet on the veranda steps.
He picked it up and gave it a meal consisting of raw meat and water.

b. Why did the other birds attack the owls?


Ans. The other birds attack the owls because they look upon all the owls as their
enemies.

c. Why the mother owl didn’t trust the narrator?


Ans. The mother owl didn’t trust the narrator because she left a mouse with its
tail tucked through the netting which showed that she didn’t trust him as a
parent.

d. Why did the mother owl leave her children on the headstand?
Ans. The mother owl left her children on the headstand in the veranda because
they were probably getting too big for her to manage.

e. What did the owlet loved to do?


Ans. The owlets loved to have a bath in a shallow dish. During the day they loved
to doze off in the headstand. After dark, they would roam freely and watch
beetles.
