A1. The narrator had passed the Magic shop once or twice and had seen many alluring little
objects like magic balls, magic hens, pack of cards ,and all sort of things but had never
thought of going in until one day , he was dragged in by his son, Gip.
A2.The shopman was a curious, sallow, dark man, with one ear larger than the other. He
had a sharp chin and long magic fingers.
A3. He pulled out a sheet of paper from an empty hat and the unending thread from his
mouth to tie the parcel.
A4. Gip’s father was filled with a sense of consternation when he saw his son hold the man’s
hands in the same manner as he used to hold his hands . At that moment he was afraid that
man had control over his son.

ANS. The speaker says these words when he the shopman takes his hat and performs
some magic . He makes fun of him too. The speaker wanted to take his hat back from him .

ANS. They do not find the shopman there and they find their hat lying on the floor . There is
a lop – eared white rabbit too behind the counter.
d. Who appears there later? How does ‘he’ behave?
ANS. The shopman appears there again through the front door of the shop . He enters with
a smile on his face and an air of innocence as if he had never met them before.
