Designing a Playlist

I chose to focus on multiplication. In fourth grade the math becomes very dependent upon
automaticity of multiplication facts. This is always my SLO focus because the students need to
continue to work on this growth the entire year. It is always evident that they lack automaticity
when they come to fourth grade.

1. The first slide is just an introduction to the lesson itself about multiplication. It is a very
brief overview of the why of the lesson. This is a document that was uploaded.
2. The second slide is Khan Academy video about the multiplication in itself. These are
some of the strategies we use in class. This is an idea of how they can go about
explaining their work when they present their screencastify.
3. The third slide is inspiration to what they will create. They are going to create a saying
that will help us to remember our facts along with our strategies.
4. The fourth slide are the rules and guidelines for their creations.
5. The fifth slide is a graphic organizer that will help them layout their creations and
designs. This lays out all the parts that they will have to explain in their screencastify.
They are going to have to collaborate with their partner to work on their saying and
decide together who is talking during certain parts as well as agreeing on how to explain
the fact similar to that of the Khan Academy example.
6. Slides 6-8 are all choices for them to create their work. Included in these choices are
gDrawings, google publisher, and powtoons. The students all have a google account so
they will be able to sign in to use the google tools. The students will have to create a free
student account on powtoon to use it, but may sign in with google account.
7. The ninth slide explains how to use powtoon, through a youtube video, for new users.
8. The tenth slide is the screencastify link for them to create their video. Again, this is an
extension, but the students all have a google account and have access to this extension.
9. The eleventh slide is their last slide and their assessment slide. We use reflex in our
classroom, which focuses on math facts. I can see the students work day to day and use
this as an assessment to see if their sayings resonated with them.
