- Task 1: Lead in: Write up two questions on WB

- SS talk in pairs, then whole class FB. Each pair tells me about the other person.
- Introduce topic (online auctions) and give meaning with example.
- Ask ss if they know anything about eBay.
- Task 2: Prediction task: Give out sheets and nominate a ss to read the task and the words in
the box.
- Pair check answers before class FB
- During FB I ask ss to put hand up when I read out the words in guessing which one will come
up most. I write the number of hands against each word.
- Read Going, going, gone (gist read) and underline which words did come up.
- Ask if anyone knows the meaning to word ‘mammoth’ and ‘submarine’. If not give it.
- Task 3: Ask what heading numbers are referring to (they read text again – scan text).
- Pair check answers before class FB. Nominate one number for each ss to explain.
- Task 4: I say instructions. Nominate a ss to repeat instructions. Ask, “Are we reading or
writing?” Remind them to underline answers.
