survey that was conducted of 2000 US shoppers found out that 89% of the shoppers were more likely
to buy products from Amazon compared to any other e-commerce shopping site. A similar survey was
conducted by Amazon and it was found that Amazon was absolutely necessary through the customer
journey, the reviews says it all.
Amazon basically makes use of different types of positioning:

Multi-segment positioning: Amazon, the most famous shopping giant offers a wide scope of
products. In particular, this online store sells more than 120 million items, engaging to fulfil the
demand and needs of the various target market groups.
Adaptive positioning: This online retail store effectively screens the changes in the shopping
experience of the people and addresses expanding client desires by steady repositioning of items.
Anticipatory positioning: Anticipatory positioning is referred to placing the target market group that
has less turnover with the hope that the turnover will increase to the expected range in the mere future.
Amazon Web Services is an effective model for expected business positioning. The CEO Jeff Bezos
states that nobody requested for the formation of AWS. Yet it turned out to be the world’s best and
famous business giant in the e-commerce world.
According to my understanding and study, two-third of the respondents start their search for new
products from Amazon, and the other one-fifth searches for the products on Google, i.e., start their
shopping journey on the SERP.
How the company could alter its market positioning strategy
Finding a Niche Market. For a start-up, the way to succeed is to start focusing on a small niche
market. You need to start with focusing on a particular need, working on it, focusing on making your
product different from the other and meeting the customer needs and wants. This will help you become
the leader in the e-commerce market. Once you become the leader in the marker, you can try to focus
on the bigger market.So, the first step is to position your brand for this niche market.
