I grew up in the East Bay, and in all my years I cannot recall one Halloween where it rained on
Halloween night. Definitely a few where it rained earlier in the day, and even right up into the
afternoon. But it always seemed to stop by the time it got dark.

I live in Vallejo and it rained or sprinkled probably 4 times in the last 10 years and other times rain
would be on the forecast or it would be cold

When I was trick or treating it would occasionally drizzle while going out. And as a kid that made

happened often or it would sprinkle. it’s stopped the past two years

the women had no agency was scary. I'm not sure I could get through the book.

Any prepper will tell you that having large amounts of cash on-hand in small and large bills is a
good thing to have for any kind of emergency or natural disaster.
Also, keep your car's gas tank always above half, and keep plenty of fresh water in your
household: 1 gallon per person per day, with enough to last at least 3 days minimum (or longer
if you anticipate a longer-term lack of access to clean drinking water).
permalink embed save parent report give award reply

Any ideas to address the fear that an earthquake will smush the house and the water with
it? Safer out in the garage maybe?
permalink embed save parent report give award reply

Yep. Keep some on the side of your house and covered up. Maybe have a shed in the
backyard with some of your survival supplies, if you have the space.

Sorry to burst your bubbles yall. Every now and then I check the 14 day weather forecast from the
weather network which tends to be pretty accurate with weather reports. I just checked it yesterday
and it showed there was a day of rain coming in next week. I checked again this morning which got
updated and now there’s no rain in sight. Fuck the pollution man.

permalink embed save parent report give award reply

[–] USBattleSteed 16 points 11 hours ago

I wouldn't treat the 14 day forecast as gospel. I'm pretty sure technology can only accurately
predict the next three days and beyond that is an educated guess from records.
permalink embed save parent report give award reply

[–] kaplanfx 5 points 10 hours ago

They predicted the heat wave this week about 5 days before it first heated up, so certain
patterns are predictable.
permalink embed save parent report give award reply

[–] Captain_Wozzeck 5 points 10 hours ago

It's fairly standard chaos theory. 1-2 days is usually accurate. 3-5 days will get some or most
conditions right but the timing might be off a bit.
5+ days is where it gets dodgy. Tiny differences between the model's measurements and reality
can result in completely different conditions emerging within a few days. Forecasts have
definitely got better as computing has become more powerful, but there's still so many ways
longer-range forecasts can go wrong.

I’m just upset that it’s October and it’s 100 degrees.
Wish I didn’t listen to the guy who told me not to buy a nice expensive AC unit. Ended up settling for a
cheap one that was only meant to cool down my bedroom after I got home from work around 6pm. It did
the job then, but now when I’m at home in my kitchen and living room all day and it’s 100 outside, this
thing can’t even keep up and it’s pretty much not even worth running. And I don’t even want to drop
money on the better unit now because not only is winter coming, but who knows if I’ll be still working from
home by the time it warms up again.

that starts getting snow around Thanksgiving.
I should know better by now, but somehow in my excitement for Fall I reverted back to my old life and bought
some really beautiful wool to make a skirt out of. WOOL. In the Bay Area. I don't even live in the city where it
might be cold enough some days. I don't know why I tease myself like this. Maybe I can wear it when I visit
