My Favorite Place to Go

I love to go to Philmont. My family and I go there every year to visit friends. Philmont is a

Boy Scout Range in Northern New Mexico in Cimarron. The ranch is known worldwide. My dad

works as a doctor every year week we go. We drive down and we go to a camp there. This year

were doing something extra special!

First off, every year we drive to Northern New Mexico. The little town it’s by is called

Cimarron. We know about it because my father went to the camp when he was a boy scout

himself. That is where my parents met. My mother was working as a resident in the health clinic.

My dad met a whole bunch of his current day friends there. They coordinate every year so they

can go the same week. We go every year with two families: The Chandlers and the Ingram's.

They are both doctors as well.

Next my brother sister and I and the kids from the other families go to a camp. We get split

up according to our age. We go on hikes, rifle and archery shooting, games, campouts, handy

crafts, and skits. We eat breakfast in the dining hall, go to camp, our parents come and we eat

lunch with them, then we go back to camp, and get picked up again at the end of the day. One of

the families has a 3year old boy, his name is Alex. I am old enough that I get to watch him

during meals and in the morning and the evening. Last year when we went I watched him and it

was super fun!

 This year were doing something very special and secretive! We planned it so that the week

we go falls right on my dad’s birthday. We are throwing a surprise birthday bash at the place he

loves. We are going to invite all his friends he hasn’t seen in a long time. It has been very hard

and is going to be very hard to keep it a secret. Furthermore we still have to wait until August 4!

My family goes to Philmont Scout Ranch every year, and love it. It is located in

Cimmaron, New Mexico. We there with our friends, and they and my dad work as doctors

together. The kids from the other families as well as my siblings and I go to a camp there. We do

a variety of really fun things. This year we are planning a surprise birthday for my dad. I love

going to where my parents met and spending time with my family!
