6. Course Requirements / Assessment Activities

The assessment that will be used is categorized into two: formative and summative.

For the formative assessment, you will encounter Self-Assessment quizzes in every module that
are intended to aid you in learning and validate your gained knowledge in each lesson; this will not be
recorded or graded.

Summative assessment will all be graded; it will be in three (3) forms:

 First are the activities at the end of each module, which will be graded on weekly basis. This will
serve as an immediate feedback mechanism for you to know if you need to go back to the previous
module.
 Second are the Major Outputs per term (one for midterm, and another for final term). The details of
each major output will be discussed on the first day of each term and can be accessed on the
course site.
 Third are the Major Exams per term (Midterm and Final Examination). The major exams scheduled
online examinations (See Course Schedule). Details will be given during classes and will be
available in the course site.

Rubrics will be used for the evaluation of your outputs whenever applicable and can be accessed on
the course site.

7. Grading System
As indicated in the course syllabus, your course performance will be evaluated based on the
following criteria:
Midterm/Tentative Final Grade: Final Grade Calculation:
Discussion Forums 10%
Weekly Activities 20% FINAL GRADE: [MG+ (TeFG X 2)] /3
Major Output 30%
Major Exam 40%
TOTAL 100%

8. Learning Resources
To aid your learning, resources will be provided along the duration of the course it will be available
on the course site. However, for those with poor internet connection may schedule time to connect to
university Wi-Fi and download all term materials. The learning resources are:

1. Modules
Modules will be prepared per lesson and is uploaded in the course site. Each module in the
manual has its own set of Self-Assessment Tests. You are required to read all the modules and take
the self-assessment tests. You will also find the activities at the end of each module which you need to
accomplish and submit on the indicated date.

2. Workbook with worksheet activities that will be done at home. This will enable the student to
enhance learning by doing a self-paced activity.

3. Video Lectures/Resources
Video lectures/resources are additional resources to help you better understand the topic.
They are pre-recorded video lectures or YouTube videos. The links are provided in the module and
course site sorted per topic.

4. Additional Reading Materials

Reading assignments are indicated in some of the modules, you are encouraged to read it and
engage in it to ensure understanding. Concepts or lessons from the reading materials are included in
the Self-Assessment Test of their respective modules.

10. Other Guidelines/Netiquette

As we start, I just would like to share some guidelines that we have to observe here as we learn
together:
 We must use our actual full name in our online classes to avoid misrepresentation
 Provide current and active contact details: email account and mobile numbers
 In the group chat that will be created exclusively for the course:
o Only issues and concerns related to the course will be entertained.
o If you have a message for a specific person in the class, send it to her or him
personally
o If you reply by emoticons, you post it directly to the message to keep it visible in
the GC, otherwise will be lost by too many emoticons.
 Personal messages, texts or emails will be answered within 24 hours.
 We abide in Honor Code. Meaning you are expected NOT to plagiarize and cheat in any of
the class activities
 Any outputs submitted should bear the name, course, year and section in the file name.
Example: narvaezNCM106-PHARMA-2A
 Any form of bullying is not acceptable. In participating in Discussion Forums, you are
expected to be respectful and polite with one another
 You are expected to engage with the material, with me, and with your classmates
whenever possible.

5. Other Guidelines/Netiquette*
As we start, I just would like to share some core values that we can adopt here as we learn together:
 Relationship – as the group ‘meets’ in this virtual world, let us build great relationships. This is an
opportunity to build one; an opportunity that we may not have otherwise had
 Respect – I foresee great conversations and different points of view. This is okay and part of a healthy
exchange of ideas. Every member of the group should feel that her/his input is respected and valued
 Value – There will be different personalities in the group. As we share our opinions, we trust that
nothing shared within the group will be met with unfriendliness or hostility
 Safe group – The group should commit to keeping its environment a safe place for discussion
