In dept on one challenge and personal approach.

Although there is a likelihood for predetermined solutions when one analyzes challenges, there could
be disadvantages of using this is as a metric for all. For one, problem solving entails that there should
be critical thinking which provides an avenue for solutions that may have not been considered at first.
The collective impact process is characterized by an emergence approach to problem solving;
especially if there is a likelihood for multiple solutions and outcomes. Kanir and Kramer mentions that
at times, the threat to success is a fixation on the wrong kind of solution which is most likely a
predetermined one.
Collective Impact just as every other approach to problem solving has challenges. The most obvious
being the difficulty to bring people together to collaborate with a common interest as individuals have
competition and mistrust, disagreement on shared metrics as well as the almost definite existence of
local politics. With due consideration to the challenges referenced above a very important challenge is
a myopic tunnel vision view of solution(s). Complex challenges often call for emergent solutions and
not predetermined ones as these challenges are unique from past ones and often set precedence for the
future should they emerge again.
Problem solving is a difficult and often complicated process. Ensuring that the five conditions for
collective impact are in place aid the process of finding a solution. As mentioned above, one of the
main challenges of collective impact is solution predetermination and myopia.
As a transformational servant leader, communicating and exhibiting the virtue of idea sharing and
collaboration within the premise of finding solution creates an avenue for multiple ideas and reduces
the likelihood of having myopic and predetermined solution. This approach, in my opinion creates a
environment to ‘think outside the box’.
