State verbs: These verbs are NOT used in the continuous form. They are used in the
present simple form. Examples: know; need; understand; hate; like; love; want;
prefer; mind; wish; hope, have etc.

What is the difference in these two sentences?

- She is driving her car now – Present continuous – Action happening
now
Examples:

- Maria doesn’t play (not / play) soccer in the mornings


- Jenny and Tatiana are drinking (drink) coffee today
