Sub: - Report of logging of water at Face-3.

Since 8 th August, 2007 to till date M/s HJV has not

executed major activities at HRT works at Face-3. Only dewatering
activities were continued up to 21st Aug. 07. From 21st Aug. 07
onwards, M/s HJV has stopped dewatering activity at Face-3.

Due to stoppage of dewatering system at Face-3, water at Face-3 is

accumulated towards face from RD 30m to 3172m.The Level
difference as per slope 1:401is 7.835m and actual depth of water at RD-
30 is 0.15m. The details of Qty. of water are as below:-
Area of Horse shoe shape tunnel = 0.82932 x (7x7) = 40.63
sq.m.
Area at RD 30m = (7 + 6.8)/2 x 0.15 = 1.035 sq.m.
Avg. area = (40.63 +1.035)/2 =20.83 sq.m.

Qty. of water from RD 30m to 2851.2m length = 20.83 x

2821.2= 58765.6 cum
Qty. of water from RD 2851.2m to 3172m length = 320.8 x
40.63= 13034.1 cum

Total Qty. of water in tunnel = 71799.7 cum

Assuming 20% for overbreak accumulated portion of tunnel,
Qty. of accumulated water in tunnel = 71799.7 x 1.2 = 86160
cum (Approx.)

Today we tried to proceed towards the face but at RD 70 the

depth of water was around 0.30m and it was not accessible
beyond 70 RD due to increase in depth of water.
Complete length of the tunnel from RD 30m to 3172m is
filled with water at invert. As excavation has passed through
material which is liable to soften & swelled can deteriorate the
invert.

 After approval of the substituted items rate,
sum of the actual amount has been changed and it
becomes Rs.2,32,322/. So penalty for the time extension
@ 0.25% per week which comes to 1.25% on actual
amount i.e. Rs. 2905/- on Rs.2,32,322/-

Now case is submitted for approval of competent

authority for final time extension upto 16.05.08 with
levy of penalty of Rs. 2905/on account of delays .

Sub- Regarding problems and demands of Shilla villagers

With reference to HR letter No. NH/PP-II/HR/605-

C/09/7/08-09 Dated 28.11.09, it is intimated that Shilla village is at a
distance of nearly 1.7 km from Adit-I. There is a kachcha road from
Adit-I to Shilla village for its connectivity. Width of this road is 3.5m.
Villagers are using this road with foot and with vehicle for their day to
day life work. Population of the village is nearly 700. No. of houses in
the village is nearly 90. There is no dispensary in Shilla village. Near
by the village area, there is a dispensary in Manikaran and a hospital in
Jari. Manikaran is at a distance of 14 km and Jari is at a distance of 26
km for Shilla village. Villagers goes to Manikaran and Jari for their
medical treatment

Sub. - Formation of cavity and encountering of loose

rock in Face-3
Excavation of HRT is in progress in Face - 3 side
through Adit-I by Drill & Blast method after completing Face 3
portion (RD 4049 m). On 12.7.10 loose rock came starting
from the crown portion and a cavity formed. Seeing the
condition of tunnel and safety of workers and machinery,
erection of steel ribs were necessary. So, eight set of steel
ribs were erected with MS sheet lagging and backfilling.
Further, erection of steel rib was not possible due to falling of
loose rock/muck from the cavity intermittently. This
phenomena is still continuing even up to RD 4124M and
cavity is getting extended towards right side of spring level
and at crown. Chainage of cavity portion is 4119 m to 4123
m just near the face .Approx. 1000 cum loose muck have
fallen from the cavity till date and cleared .The depth of the
cavity in the crown portion is not visible as from chainage
4118 m to face muck is yet to be cleared and height of cavity
seems to be of 20m height at crown portion . The observed
area is completely dry and rock type is Talc chlorite schist
with some flakey material like Biotite, Mica with intrusions of
Quartz veins and staining . The rock mass is thinly foliated
and closely jointed.

Sub. - Electric failure due to heavy and continuous raining at

Adit-I

Due to heavy and continuous raining at site, platform

of one DG set ( 415 KVA) is slided on 27.7.10 due to occurrence
of landslide at Adit-I. Due to this panel set and other accessories
of this DG were fallen down on the valley side. Henceforth,
electric supply in the tunnel and at the site was badly affected
from 27.7.10 to 30.7.10. Due to this, tunnel activities were
completely stopped during this period.

Sub.-Electric failure due to heavy and continuous

rainfall in Adit-I

Due to heavy and continuous rainfall in Barshaini

area at (Adit -I ) site , platform of Two DG set ( 415
KVA) is slided on 27.7.10. CGI sheets shed having
transformer, panel set and other accessories of this DG
were fallen down on the valley side. Henceforth, L.T. &
H.T. electric supply in the tunnel and at the site was
badly affected from 27.7.10 to 30.7.10. Due to this,
tunnel major activities were completely stopped during
this period. On 27.07.2010. after noon dewatering at
face -3 was restored.

Sub.-Telephone facility at Adit-I

One telephone no..9816073160 was provided at

Adit-1 site for official use and is out of order.At
present there is no communication system at site
due to withdrawn of cug plan and available
telephone facility out of order .As excavation beyond
4049 m is in progress at face 3 and to speed up the
work pace and streamline the work activities,
telephone facility is an urgent requirement of the
site.
Without proper communication it is very
difficult to co-ordinate with HJV, our staff in shifts
and to give feedback to Sr. officer during day and
night shift. HRT sites are very remotely located an
telephone landline or WLL may kindly be provided at
site office.
