small article gave me the general details of the signing of the armistice.

This was the baseline of information towards my first point. The U.N. Charter

was a really helpful source in making my website.

Clark, Mark W. From the Danube to the Yalu . New York: Harper, 1954. Print. This

book was very helpful. It was a first-hand account on General Clark's experience

as General Ridgeway's successor in the Korean War. General Clark was the U.N.

commander when the armistice was signed, and provided a great account of the

issues faced during the war.

understand the artillery attack that occurred just a couple of moths ago.

Davies, Lawrence E. "General Clark Warns Nation To Be Vigilant During Truce." New

York Times 31 July 1953: 1+. Print.This article, printed just four days after the
armistice was signed, showed me that even though it was signed, the war wasn't

assumed over.

copy of the cease-fire agreement. I quoted this the document a couple of times.

With this, I learned the terms of agreements that the Communists and U.N.

agreed to.

Nov. 2010. This report was evidence to me about the earlier peace talks and

helped me understand why they abruptly broke off.

Parott, Lindesay. "Ceremony Is Brief." New York Times 27 July 1953: 1. Print. This was

a very detailed article telling about the armistice signing ceremony. It also

explains what happened within twelve hours of the armistice being signed.

Parrot, Lindesay. "U.N. and Reds Are Meeting To Set Up Full Truce Talks." New York

Times 9 July 1953: 1+. Print. This article gave me a glimpse of what was going

on in Korea just days before the armistice was signed.

"Rhee Alters Stand as Truce is Signed." New York Times 28 July 1953: 3. Print. This

article told me about South Korean President Synman Rhee's attitude toward the

armistice in the final hours of the war.

Ridgway, Matthew B. The Korean War: How We Met the Challenge: How All-out Asian
War Was Averted: Why MacArthur Was Dismissed: Why Today's War

Objectives Must be Limited. [1st ed.] Garden City, N.Y.: Doubleday, 1967. Print.

Ridgway was the U.N. commander after MacArthur. His first-hand account was

a valuable source tat told me about the hardships the U.N. army faced before the

signing of the armistice.

found this magazine article online. It provided me with many quotes pertaining

to what the armistice meant.

Wars End Pt.3 - Korean War Historical Video- 휴전. U.S. Army. Youtube. A short part

of this clip is seen in the "Only a Pause in Fighting" page. The video gave me an

idea of additional outcomes of the Korean War, and what events led up to the

armistice.

explained the entire war and had an excellent timeline that I often referred to.

Halliday, Jon, and Bruce Cumings. Korea: The Unknown War. New York: Pantheon,

1988. Print. This was an excellent all-round book about the war. It helped me

understand the war's background and links to the Cold War.


Halperlin, Morton. "The Limiting Process in the Korean War." Political Science

Quarterly 78.1 (1963): 13-39. Web. 18 Nov. 2010. This article helped me

understand the American's reasoning and viewpoint of the war.

Henriksen, Thomas H., and Kyong-Soo Lho. One Korea?: Challenges and Prospects for

Reunification. Stanford (Calif.): Hoover Institution, Stanford University, 1994.

Print. This book, mainly about the idea of unifying Korea, was extremely helpful

to my website, especially concerning my second point.

Print. This book helped me grasp on to the concept of the Korean War. It told

me of its main causes and effects.

Kaufman, Burton Ira. The Korean Conflict. Westport, Conn.: Greenwood Press, 1999.

Print. I got a very important quote to support my thesis from this book.

Korea Institute of Military History. The Korean War. Lincoln: University of Nebraska

Press, 2000/2001. Print. This books' timeline was extremely useful and was an

easy way to figure out when things happened.

people died in the Korean War.

Sandler, Stanley. "Armistice Negotiations." The Korean War: an Encyclopedia. New

armistice told of the Communist's method of negotiating,

Publishers, 1994. Print. This book was a very valuable resource to me. In

addition to information on the entire war, it provided me with excellent quotes on

the war.

Stueck, William Whitney. Rethinking the Korean War: A New Diplomatic and Strategic

History. Princeton, NJ: Princeton UP, 2002. Print. Mr. Stueck's book helped me

understand some of the troubles and issues that caused the armistice to take a

long time to agree upon.

Stueck, William Whitney. The Korean War: An International History. Princeton, N.J.:

Princeton University Press, 1995. Print. This book was very helpful to me in

understanding how the armistice came to be regarding dates and particular

events.

Tucker, Spencer, and Jinwung Kim. "Armistice Agreement." Encyclopedia of the Korean

War: A Political, Social, and Military History. Santa Barbara, CA: ABC-CLIO,

2000. 42-44. Print. This was a short excerpt that excellently summed up the

Korean War Armistice.
