Q. Why do we study public policy ?

Ans. Public policy means the extended area of government laws, regulations, decisions. If authority
make any decision for the greater interest of the public which will be sustainable that has to be backed
by strong policy in terms of legal, political, economical, social consideration. Otherwise, it will not bring
long term sustainable benefit for the target people who all are the majority of the state. As they are
formulated for the greater portion of society such policy is bound to have greater impact. So special
care is given during public policy formulation and implementation process.

Understanding policy analysis permits us to understand solutions to practical problems . Knowing how
public policy works can improve our ability to deal with these issues. Public policy analysis can become a
professional role for students trained in political science, economics, law, environmental studies,
business, and other disciplines. These fields constantly work with government and have a direct link in
the quality and character of public policy. This is how we can understand how policy is made, what
impacts are derived, and how policy can improve, more effective public policy might be formulated. We
study public policy for this reason.
