Activity 1. I AM A TEACHER! WHO AM I AS CURRICULARIST
IMPLEMENTER CASE 1: I have a good idea on how to make my learners pay attention to the lessons. I
will use the new idea and find out if it will work.
INITIATOR CASE 2: DepEd sent a standards, competencies and guidelines in teaching the Mother
Tongue in grade 1 in our school. I will study and use it in the coming school year.
PLANNER CASE 3: There is so much to do in one school day. I seem not able to do all, but I have to
accomplish something for my learners. I have made a daily activity plan to guide me.
WRITER CASE 4: I need a poem to celebrate the world Teachers Day. I composed one to be used in my
class in Literature.
INNOVATOR CASE 5: My class is composed of learners from different home background and culture. I
cannot use a “one-size-fits all strategy “in teaching so I can respond to the diverse background. In my
readings, I discovered that there are ways of teaching. I tried one myself and it worked.
KNOWER CASE 6: Knowledge is limitless. What I learned in college is not enough. I need to know more,
so I enrolled in the graduate school to advance my learning.
EVALUATOR CASE 7: At the end of the year, my performance as a teacher is reflected in the school
performance of my students. So I need to provide a monitoring tool to measure how they are
progressing. The result will inform me how I will address my learner’s weakness and enhance their
strengths.
INNOVATOR CASE 8: I am teaching in a very far away barangay which no electricity yet. Many of the
instructional aids for teaching sent to our school are films and video tapes which needs power. I cannot
use them, but the lessons are very important. So I thought of making an alternative activity. I took my
class to the river and waterfall instead of doing the lesson.
WRITER CASE 9: My principal asked me to attend a write shop to make the lesson exemplars in the
teaching of science in Grade 7. In the workshop, I used my experiences as a science teacher for ten
years, and my knowledge of the subject matter. At the end of three days, I was able to produce lesson
exemplars in which I am proud of.
INITIATOR CASE 10: In grade 7 to grade 10 of the K- to 12 Enchanced Curriculum, science as a subject is
presented, taught and learned in a spiral manner. This is part of the DepEd implementing a guidelines
of the curriculum. I am a Biology major, and I have insufficient knowledge about the other areas of
science such as a Physics and Earth Science. Because of the dilemma. I have to request the principal
that we have team teaching.
Activity 2. From among the roles of a teacher as a curricularist, list the most desire role you want to
perform and why?
- If I will become a teacher the role that I desire to perform as a curricularist is the Teacher as an
Implementer. Just like what it was stated in the module, “the curriculum that remains
recommended or written will never serve its purpose. Somebody has to implement it.” It is the
teacher’s role and duty to implement it. As an implementer, teacher gives life on the curriculum
plan. By doing it, the educator must support the materials with the height of engagement to
the learners and do its best since they are in expected level in order to achieve the desire
outcome. And the success of the curriculum depend on the implementer.

INTERVENTION
Listen to the TV News about the New Normal Issue in the field of education and reflect how it
affect to the school curriculum and to your becoming a curricularist. Write your answer in at least
two paragraph.
Since we are facing this global problem which is the COVID-19, a lot of changes happen to us
and affect our daily routines and life and also bring crisis. Our government implemented this New
Normal in order for us to be safe all the time. And there are many things changed since this pandemic.
And a lot of people adjusted to it even though it’s very uncomfortable. But this New Normal also affect
the field of education which bother the minds of teachers, parents, and also student.

For the new normal in education, it really affect the educational system especially the school
curriculum. There are some teachers only depend on old and preserved curriculum. Since the
government and the Educational Sectors implemented the online classes in this school year due to the
pandemic, many changes and adjustment needs to be done. It will become hard for the Curricularist
since they are the one who develop a curriculum. There are also some factors that may occur in
implementing and planning a new way. It is hard for them since they will revise the old curriculum in
order to suit in this new normal situation or in some cases, they will produce a new one. It is difficult
for them to think, and plan a new curriculum since they are not aware of the situation and the
capacities of the student every student. Curricularist couldn’t now if the curriculum that they made is
compatible for every student and if it can sustain the needs of the learners on a community. And also
parents and some teachers are worried in this sudden changes since our country are not ready for this
and there are only limited plans that they may apply in this new normal in education since our
Department of Education are still planning for some improvise and innovative plans in considering it. I
am hoping that this pandemic will end very soon as possible so that everything will back to normal.
And the learner will never worry about buying expensive gadgets and necessities they can use in this
new normal.
