The Malaysian legal system is based on English common law and most of the laws are
adapted from Indian law
The judges of the Federal Court are appointed by the paramount ruler on the advice of the
prime minister.

Article 128,
1. whether a law made by Parliament or by the Legislature of a State is invalid on the
ground that they have no jurisdiction

a High Court or a judge thereof shall be such as may be provided by federal law.

1. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong may refer to the Federal Court for its opinion any
question as to the effect of any provision of this Constitution
