To calculate the CEL the following assumptions were made
1. 30mm of the bars was removed as it was not used in
refining
2. the angle used was 60 degrees instead of 21 for the three segments.
3. the table above shows the length of the bars and these were measured
one by one
4 the number of stators and rotors were calculated as follows

360=6
60

The total number of rotors and stators will be 6

The CEL = Zr*Zst*l
= 6*6*152408mm
=5486688 mm/rev
=5486.688 m/rev
=5.487 km/rev for a single refiner
=10.974 km/rev for a double refiner

Question 2
Bar cutting speed=CEL*n where n is the rotational speed rev/s
For a 1425rpm the Ls = CEL*n
= 5.487*(1425/60)
=130.31km/s for single refiner
=10.974*(1425/60)
=260.63km/s for double refiner
For a 950rpm the Ls=CEL*n
=5.487*(950/60)
=86.88km/s for a single refiner
=173.76km/s for a double refiner

Motor selection will be determined as follows

Pe= 360-125=1.80
Ls 130.31

Pe= 250-45=2.35
Ls 86.88

The 950rpm will used for the operation

Question 3

The is difference in tensile strength value as that the hand sheet had its bond flexible. This was mainly due to that fibres had been released. This
caused them to have a high strength and the consistency had no affected. There was also no screening and cleaning was done. Fibres were
separated.

On the 75% tensile strength, there the sample may have undergone refining in which refining affects tensile strength. The type of consistency
used also helped in the tensile strength.
