CHARACTER AND PERSONALITY
Understand what Character means
Understand the difference between Character and Personality
Reevaluate themselves on the character they have.
A.INTRODUCTION-Welcome to this course on Character Building in the
Family and in the Community. This week, we will journey together in
engaging ourselves of what is character. On other hand, we will
differentiate character and personality. As we conclude our session, we will
reevaluate ourselves’ character.
B.LESSON CONTENTLEARNING POINT: DEFINING “CHARACTER
AND PERSONALITY”
Character:
 Refers to the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual
 Refers to the learned behavior that reflects one’s attitude and values
 Is a disposition to express behavior in consistent patterns of function
across a range of situations
 Refers to a set of moral and beliefs that defines how we treat or
behave with others and ourselves
 He knows the difference between right and wrong and always tries to
do what is right
Personality:
 the traits of a person which is a means to display during outward of
who you are including the physical
 refers to the range of distinctive personal qualities and traits of an
individual

Often, someone’s character and personality are intertwined. But, believe it


or not, the two are quite distinct.
The easiest way to separate the two:
personality traits are surface-level observations, visible from the
outside.

character traits are deep-seated, not immediately obvious, and


developed over time.
Example: A new friend’s outgoing, amiable personality can be easily
observed. However, her honest character will take more time to become
apparent. You will have to get to know her better to learn that her parents
stressed the importance of honesty and she has taken those lessons to
heart. This would make honesty one of her character traits
