Technical Study

Brief Description of the Study

WaterGon is organized as partnership among the three owners of Kathy Mae

Galicia, Nicole Marbella and Arvin Cleofe. This is a newly established business that

will provide the services of refilling water to a container and consignment of bottled

minerals to nearest stores . This project is located at Barangay 38, Zone 2 Gogon

Legazpi City because of its limited competitor. Service hours operation will be

Monday to Sunday from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. This project is more about labor-

intensive especially with the delivery aspect. Costumer order for the product is either

in the form of delivery or costumer pick-up. The price varies according to the kind of

its costumer order. The delivery will be on time and the proponents will make it sure

that the refilling process is not contaminated and surely sealed for the safety of the

costumer. This project will use the latest technology in purifying and supplying the

costumer the cleanest and affordable water.

Production Process

1. Source Receiving and Inspection

 Water is carefully collected from the source, which may either be a well or

municipal supply

 Common method of receiving water is through stainless steel pipeline

 Sample is taken from source weekly prior to internal processing

2. Activated Carbon Filtration (Municipal Water Only)

 Removal of Chlorine and THMs

 Filtration process monitored and tested daily

Pre-treatment ( Where necessary )

Water Softener used to reduce water hardness

3. Demineralization/ Purification

Minerals are removed using one of the following processes:

 Reverse Osmosis - Use of high-pressure pump and special membranes,

called semi-permeable membranes, to reverse the natural phenomenon of

osmosis

 Distillation - A process that boils the water and collects the condensate

for bottling

4. Water Storage and Monitoring

 Water is received into storage tanks

 Storage environment and water carefully monitored daily

5. Remineralization ( Mineralized Water Only )

 Minerals added to taste

6. Micro-filtration

 Specialized two-stage advanced micro-filters, designed specifically for our

process, filter the water

 These filters are pharmaceutical grade and are designed to remove particles

as small as 0.2 micron in diameter.

 Capable of removing microbiological contaminants

 Filtration process monitored hourly and tested daily

7. Ultraviolet Light Disinfection

 The combination effects of micro-filtration and ultraviolet light provide

added assurance of product disinfection and safety

 Process continually monitored by instrumentation and checked/monitored

hourly

Ozone Disinfection ( Where necessary )

 Highly reactive form of oxygen used to disinfect water

 Process is monitored on an hourly basis

8. Bottling Control

 Bottling is conducted under every controlled conditions using state-of-the-art

equipment

 Each bottle is given a specific code that bottle line and time produced

9. Packaging Control

 Packaging is conducted using the latest in modern equipment. Packaging

materials not meeting internal standards are rejected.

 Bottles, caps and labels are carefully controlled and monitored by lot

10. Clean-In-Place ( C.I.P ) Sanitation Process

 Line sanitation practices include advanced pipe and equipment methods,

called CIP
 This automated cleaning process re-circulates detergent and sanitizing

solutions at the precise temperatures and time to affect total control

11. Plant Quality Control and HACCP Program

 Water, packaging materials and plant processes are carefully monitored to

ensure they meet company specifications and standards

12. Corporate Quality Assurance Program

 National Testing Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art testing

machinery and staffed experience personnel.

 Comparative analysis are performed on products in accordance with State

and Federal Regulatory Standards.

Utilities

In the operation cycle of TubiGon Refilling Station, there are certain services that

are regular to avoid dislocation of production process. These services include supply

of water and electricity. In maintaining the good quality of product, utilities must be

always available in all aspect of production. Water also serves as our raw material on

product. The proponents collects water from source such as well or municipal supply.

They will assure that their water products are processed well for their customer. The

proponents decide to Albay Power and Energy Corporation ( APEC ) as their main

supplier. On the other hand, electricity are mixed cost that need some attention such

as unstable services provided by the proponents supplier.

Business Location

The TubiGon water refilling station is located at Barangay 38 Zone 2 Gogon

Legazpi City. The place is situated at approximately 13.1569, 123.7461, in the island

of Luzon. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 7.4 meters or 24.3 feet above

mean sea level.

Adjacent Barangays:

Barangay 38-Gogon shares a common border with the following barangay(s):

Total Quality Management

Internal Control of the business will help ensure that products are safe and clean

for the target market. TubiGon Water Refilling Station will be constructed with

transparent glass and according to prescribed standards so that the customers will be

able to see how carefully and cleanly the products are being processed. Excellent

quality will be maintained by giving the workers training and guidance on good

manufacturing practices.

The proponents will use appropriate filtering system to further screen out harmful

organisms, which survived the chlorinated condition in the public water system.

Another valuable consideration is the removal of chlorine from your drinking water.

Too much chlorine has been associated with cancer formation. The proponents will

value their customer’s feedback regarding how to improve the quality of the products

and to maintain the trust to each other. The establishment will not neglect
maintenance to improve the quality of the products.

Water Disposal System

The proposed establishment will follow the rules and regulations set forth by the

government standards. Thus, social benefit programs in the forms of clear guidelines

in hiring people, laws on pollution, proper waste management and other similar

actions that are likely to be effective are established and enforced by the government.

These guidelines will help the management determine the necessary actions in order

to promote safety and orderliness of the business. The waste materials from the

production are segregated accordingly and to be collected by the garbage trucks. The

business will also provide a recycle storage can which aims to collect waste materials

that can be recycled. The management will monitor from time to time whether the

said rules and regulations are implemented properly.

Risk Management

The proponents are willing to shoulder the burden and to take extra cost in order

to protect the business and to be socially responsible. The management will ensure

that though the risk cannot be eliminated, there are circumstance that it can be lessen.

For example, correctly charged fire extinguisher and it should be maintained and

checked and updated from time to time. Proper maintenance for the machine and

equipment, it could cause fire if not repaired and properly maintained. Possible water

leakage in the station should be fixed as soon as possible to prevent further damage.

Attending conventions about the nature of the business and improving the quality of

the products to remain competent to others in the future. Good internal control will

help the business to prevent loss in the future.
