RACI  matrix

Used  to  provide  clarity  re.  roles  and  expecta1ons


Responsible:  The  person  (or  role)  who  has  responsibility  for  doing  the  work  and  
comple9ng  an  ac9vity.  As  a  rule  this  is  a  single  person.  In  I.T.  projects,  this  person  could  for  
example  be  a  Programmer  or  Systems  Analyst.  
Accountable:  The  person  who  is  accountable  for  the  correct  comple9on  of  an  ac9vity.  The  
Accountable  person  must  sign-­‐off  the  work  that  the  Responsible  person  produces.  Must  be  
a  single  person,  and  is  typically  the  Project  Manager  or  Project  Sponsor.
Consulted:  The  people  who  provide  input  and  advice  in  order  that  the  Responsible  person  
can  complete  an  ac9vity.  You  may  see  these  people  as  subject  maIer  experts.  

Informed:  The  people  who  need  to  be  kept  up-­‐to-­‐date  regarding  project  progress.  You  
are  typically  providing  informa9on  to  them  on  a  one-­‐way  basis.
