1. How are values formed? How do they influence our attitudes toward work and others? In the study
of human behaviors, organizational leaders must understand concepts such as values, attitudes,
perceptions, and behaviors of people. The objective is to align their thoughts, emotions, and
competencies with organizational success. We often ask why people do things the way they do or
behave in a certain way. Attitudes can positively or negatively affect a person's behavior. A person
may not always be aware of his or her attitude or the effect it is having on behavior. People with
these types of attitudes towards work may likewise affect those around them and behave in a
manner that reduces efficiency and effectiveness.

2. In the workers’ perspective, why are perceptions of their reality? Behavior in the workplace is
based on people’s perception of the workplace. Many factors influence how something is perceived.
Factors of the perceiver can involve a person’s attitudes, motives, interests, experience, and
expectations. Contextual factors can involve time, work setting and social setting, factors related to
the actual target can involve novelty, motion, sounds, size, background, and proximity.

3. Why do negative behaviors affect organizational success? A negative attitude in the workplace
creates an atmosphere of distrust among employees and causes employees to attempt to achieve
success at the expense of each other. In a workplace with a positive attitude, competition is seen as
a motivator that inspires employees to perform at their best to improve productivity. One of the more
direct effects of attitude in the workplace is employee retention. ... Employees invite career
development so that they may be part of future company projects. A negative attitude leads to
turnover and a loss of experienced staff members, which degrades the company's ability to grow.

4. What can organizational leaders do to foster a positive work environment?

Positive attitudes and positive actions make for positive workplace culture. Foster collaboration and
communication: Leadership and management style that encourages teamwork, open and honest
communication is vital to creating a positive feeling in the workplace
• Establish clear ethos and values for the organization
• Foster collaboration and communication
• Create an inclusive work environment
• Create clear goals and rewards for the employees
A positive culture in the workplace is essential for fostering a sense of pride and ownership amongst
the employees. When people take pride, they invest their future in the organization and work hard to
create opportunities that will benefit the organization. By identifying and rewarding those who are
actively striving towards creating a positive work culture, and supporting others around them,
companies can encourage others to do the same. Positive attitudes and behavior in the workplace
are the direct results of effective leadership and a positive management style.
