HOW TOL-JS1 - FEATURES
SPECIFY THE L-JS SERIES

All ceiling diffusers shall be Laminaire Series.

CEILING DIFFUSERS
L-JS Diffuser and Damper to be constructed of
aluminum frames, components, or sinilary Figure 1
fabricated aluminum parts, using
mechanically-joined corners (Figure 1) on the
frame and a mechanically-wedged blade-to-
mullion contruction for the core.

Cores shall be fixed. Core shall consist of 2"

summetrical blade increments with 1" on-
center blade-to-blade spacing.

Opposed blade damper shall be a built-in

special profile desing using nylon-to-nylon
gears to provide vibration free action. Level
operators shall be accessible from the face.

Finish shall be high-temperature Electrostatic

Powder Coating.

Neck Velocity: Drop,

The neck velocity is based upn readings taken at the
neck of the diffuser. All velocitues are in feet per
minute (FPM).
Pressure:
Total pressure readings are in inches water gaige at
the ceiling mounted position. When products is used
at the return application, the -Ps Negative Static
Pressure will be 0,90 x Pt Shown.
Sound Data: The N.C. Values are based upon
absorption of 8Db. re 10˄-12 watts. The symbol "-"
indicates less than 20Db N.C. rating. Dampering for
"fine balancing" up to 25% of the CFM volume will
result in an increase in N.C. of 6Db. Greater
dampering will result in increasing noise levels, and
Laminaire recommends remote-located balancing
dampers upstream from the branch duct.
Drop of a horizontal air stream is
dependent primarily on the CFM and its T.
The larger the CFM delivered, the greater
the drop. Drop can be reducer by diving the
room air requirement into multiple outlets
with smaller quantities of air. But the most
important in controlling drop is the
mounting distance of the diffuser from the
ceiling line. The "Coanda" effect is greatly
enhanced by its location to the ceiling. See
diagram bellow.

L-JS1 AND SIZE

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Laminaire offers two different types of mounting

frames: the L-AVF which is the Flush mounted and
the L-AVS which is the surf mounted.

CEILING DIFFUSERS
The area to be served by a diffuser should be
divided into equal squares and when possible
these areas should not exceed twice the height.
We also offer the 3-way and the 2-way pattern
which we can use to compensate different
locations. The 2-way pattern is available in
opposite pattern and in 90 Degree pattern
(Corner).

SIZING PROCEDURE

1. Select the required pattern to cover the area to be

conditioned.
2. Consult the CFM-TD (°F) Ratio table related to the
mounting height. MAXIMUN CFM for TD and MOUNTING HEIGHT
3. Look for the desired NC value in the recommended Mtg Max. Total CFM In" Mtg Max. Total CFM In"

BALANCING PROCEDURE

L-AV-SQUARE and RECTANGULAR

CEILING DIFFUSERS
To determine CFM use Alnor Velometer with 2220-A
tip positioned as shown in fig 1. Take readings at
positions shown by dots (Fig 2-6). On all active
discharge sizes, over 24 x 24, take two or three
readings (Fig 4-5) per active side and average the total
readings to arrive at jet velocity. After selecting the
proper Ak value frome the performance chart, multiply
the average velocity times the Ak to determine CFM.

HOW TO SPECIFY
All curved blade grille shall be
CEILING DIFFUSERS
Laminaire L-CL constructed on
tempered extruded aluminum with
mechanically joint corners (FIGURE
1). To increase the grill strength and
reduce vibrations we designed curved
blades (FIGURE 2) which shall be
pivoted design allowing reversibility .
The grilles are powder coating
finished assuring full coverage .
All diffusers should have an extruded
channel to provide a double-acting air
seal (FIGURE 3).
Blades shall be secured with the use
of a self lubricated nylon bushing to
keep perfect tension and to prevent
blades.

HOW TO SELECT

CEILING DIFFUSERS
Note. All performance data contained
here for L-CL SERIES Only.

Step 1. The grille selected should

deliver the necessary CFM for the
area to be conditioned.
Step 2. The throw ( INFEET) should
extend at least 75% of the distance
form the face of the grille to wall
opposite the outlet. The throw
contained in the performance data is
based on a terminal velocity of 50
feet per minute.
Step 3. The velocity at the neck
should be based upon the
recommended N.C. value in the chart
at next page.

Pressure: Total pressure readings are
in inches water gauge at the horizontal
air pattern. As blades are adjusted for
more or less horizontal pattern then
the respective Pt will increase or
decrease. Full vertical throw requires
a correction factor of 30 x Pt.
Throw: Throws indicated are based on
total mumber of feet of. Projected air
when a terminal velocity of 50 feet per
minute is reached. Throws are based
on a 9' ceiling height. For each
additional foot in ceiling, height,
reduce the throw rating by
approximately one foot.
Neck velocuity: The neck velocity is
based on feet perminute (FPM) at
horizontal throw pattern.
Sound Data: The N.C. values are based
upon absorption of 8Db.
