Daily life in Nepal1.

Nepal is a developing country and its people are very

simple. They have a comfortable life with whatever they
have. The happy personality of the Nepalese helps them
live a comfortable life in the middle of the scarcity. An
ordinary day of an ordinary Nepali begins at about five or
six in the morning. They take a shower and sit for puja
(pray). After the puja, the mother prepares tea and serves
it to the family members. After their tea and breakfast,
people in the family do homework, read the newspaper or
help the mother in the kitchen while she prepares the
morning meal. The morning meal consists of dal (lentil
soup), bhat (rice), tarkari (vegetable), spicy achar
(condiment in a bottle) or chutney (fresh condiment).

2. Do Nepalese families have a difficult life according to

the text?

1. Taken from http://bossnepal.com/daily-life-ordinary-nepali-family/

After the morning meal, the mother cleans the dishes and kitchen, the children go to school and the father goes to the
office. The grandparents go for a walk, visit people or read religious books. Grandmothers often prepare batti out of
cotton or make typical snacks. If the mother works, then she finishes all her housework before she goes to the office. The
kids always take home-made snacks for their school lunch.

The lunch is ready by the time everyone returns home and after lunch, the
children play for an hour or two and then do homework. The mother cooks
dinner and sometimes the daughter helps her mother. The father enjoys TV
until dinner is ready and the whole family sits together to eat. After dinner, the
father and kids watch TV and the mother joins them only after she finishes her
kitchen work. They drink a glass of milk before they go to bed because they
believe that milk helps to sleep well. They go to bed usually after 9 or 10 pm.
And the next morning, the same routine starts.
