The below notes include two types, both of which are related to safety and extremely important. Please read it carefully. Z\warnine - Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, ifnot avoided, could result in death or serious injury. Z\cavtion . may result in injuries to humans or damages to the equipment. According to different condi- tions, it also may result in serious injuries or other damages. ——/\WaRNING © Ask the specially trained personnel to carry out the installation work. Do not try to install the machine by yourself, “Indicates a situation that © Please perform the installation work in accordance with the steps on this manual Improper installation may result in water leak- age, electric shock or fire. © Please install the air-conditioner on a foun- dation strong enough to withstand the weight of the unit. An insufficient strength of founda- tion may result in a drop of the unit and potent- ial injuries © Make sure that a separate power supply circuit is provided for this unit and that all electrical work shall comply with local laws, regulations and this installation manual. © The electrical work must be performed by qualified electrician. An insufficient power supply capacity or improper electrical construction may lead to electric shock or fire. © Make sure that the specified wires are used and all wiring is secure, No external force acts on the terminal connections or wires. Improper wiring connections or installation may result in electric shock or fire. ‘© When connecting the wiring of power supply, wired controller and remote controller, the wiring should be laid orderly so that the lid of the electric parts box can be securely fastened, © Ifreftigerant leakage happens during the installation process, please open the doors and windows immediately to ventilate thoroughly. Toxic gases may be produced if the refrigerant comes in contact with fire such as a fan heater, stove or cooking device. © Make sure unit is powered off before touch- ing any electrical parts. © Do not touch the switch with wet fingers. that may cause dangerous or deadly electric shock, @ Be sure the air-conditioner is well grounded. Never connect the ground line with the gas pipe, water pipe, lightning conductor or telephone lines. Install the indoor unit as far away from fluorescent lamps as possible. © Do not install the air-conditioner at the following locations: (a)Where a mineral oil mist or an oil spray or vapor is produced, for example, kitchen. Plastic parts may be deteriorated, corroded or damaged. (b)Where corrosive gas, such as sulfurous acid gas is produced (c)Corroded copper tubes or soldered parts may cause refrigerant leakage. (d)Where near machinery emitting electroma- gnetic waves. Electromagnetic waves may disturb the operation of the control system and lead to malfunction of the equipment. (¢)Where it may have flammable gas leakage, carboform or floating flammable dust, volatile flammable material such as gasoline or thinner. Using air-conditioner at those places may result in fire. ® Do not touch fins on heat exchangers. Improper touching may cause damages to machine or personnel injury. © Be very careful about the product transport- ation. Do not use any packaging PP bands for a means of transportation to avoid PP bands rupturing and damages to products or personnel injury that comes along. 3 BEFORE INSTALLATION Do not throw away any accessories before installation is completed. © Do not unpack the unit before reaching the installation site. If unpacking is unavoidable, countermeasure should be done after unpacking to avoid damages or scratches to the unit. © When moving the unit at or after opening package, be sure to lift it by holding on the four hanger brackets, Do not apply any force on the refrigerant pipes, drain pipe and other plastic parts so as not to damage the unit possibly. @ Please make sure R410A is the right refrigerant to be used before installation. Please refer to the IOM attached with outdoor unit for requirements of outdoor installation. 3-1 CAUTIONS © Please instruct customer the right usage (every operation mode, temperature setting, etc.) Request customer to try to operate by him/herself under the g1 e’s instruction. © Air-conditioner is not applicable for the environment with high saltiness or high voltage fluctuation, like coast and plant. Neither for vehicle nor watercraft. It is necessary to make full explana- tion on the items listed and also ask the user to read the operation manual him/herself. 4 Location Consideration © When moving the unit at or after opening package, be sure to lift it by holding on the four hanger brackets without exerting any pressure on other parts, especially, the refrigerant pipe, drain pipe and other plastic parts. © Please attach additional thermal insulation materials to the steel sheet metal of shell when the temperature is higher than 30 Celsius degree and humidity is higher than 80% in the ceiling, Please use mineral wool or polyethy- lene foam with thickness 10mm or more. (1)Select an installation site where the following conditions are fulfilled and that meets customers’ requirements. ‘© Where the ceiling is strong enough to support the unit, Ifnot, please reinforce the ceiling before installation © The ceiling is aclinic. © Ensure optimum air distribution and nothing blocks the air passage © Where condensed water can be drained out smoothly. © Where there is no risk of flammable gas leakage. © Where there is enough space for maintena- nce and service, © Where piping between indoor and outdoor units is possible within the allowable limits. © Any opening, luminaries or others that may affect the air flow, if close to the unit, may contaminate the ceiling. Please follow instruc tion of the figure | below. © Make sure the unit, power supply cable and connection wires are at least Im away from TV s and radios in order to avoid electromagnetic waves interference and/or noise. Space for maintenance and service Note: Reserve an opening at one side of connection pipes for future maintenance and service. (2)Ceiling Height Indoor unit can be installed on the ceiling that is lower than 3.5m (For YDCK125/140/ 160 models, ceiling height should be lower than 4.2m). However, when the ceiling is higher than 2.7m (For YDCK125/140/160 models, when ceiling height is higher than 3.2 m), field control should be set by remote cont- roller. Use “9 field setting” for further reference. In order to avoid negative effect on unit performance, the height from panel to ground should be higher than 2.5m. (3)Use suspension bolts for installation. (4)Install the suspension bolts (Please use M8 suspension bolts) se a hole-in anchor for existing ceiling, and a sunken insert, sunken anchor or other field supplied parts for new ceiling to reinforce 1_| Liguid Line the ceiling to bear the weight of the unit. Relation of unit and ceiling 6 INDOOR UNIT INSTALLATION © It would be easy to install optional parts prior to installing indoor unit. © For existing ceiling, install the fresh air duct first then install the indoor unit. All accessories must be supplied with the unit or be specified by York, Installation sequence for where there will be anew ceiling: (1)-(2)-(3)-(4)-(5)-(6) Installation sequence for where there will be an existing ceiling: (1)-(3)-(4)-(5) (1) Install the indoor unit temporarily ial YORK BY JOHNSON CONTROLS VRE Air-Conditioner © Attach the hanger bracket to the suspension bolt. Be sure to fix it securely by using nuts and washers on the top and bottomside of the hanger bracket. Gasket Davit Socket (2) Ceiling Opening Refer to the paper pattern for ceiling opening size. © The center of ceiling opening is indicated on the paper pattern for installation. The center line of the unit is indicated on the paper pattern for installation a well. © Fix the paper pattern to the unit with screws (pieces) At the same time, match the paper pattern with the unit. Ceiling Opening (3) Adjust the unit to the right position for installation. © According to the installation guide, check the air-conditioner from the unit’s bottom to the ceiling surface. (5) Screw on the nuts (6) Take off the paper pattern 7 REFRIGERANT PIPING WORK Pipe Connection @ Refer to the IOM attached to outdoor unit for outdoor refrigerant tube connection. © Execute heat insulation work completely on both sides of the gas piping and liquid piping. Otherwise, water leakage may happen someti- ial YORK BY JOHNSON CONTROLS VRE Air-Conditioner mes. The insulation material for gas piping has to withstand 120°C. Also, in cas temperature and humidity of the refrigerant piping ambient exceed 30°C, RH80%, please reinforce the refrigerant insulation (20mm or thicker). Otherwise, it may frost on the insula~ tion layer. where the @ Ensure the refrigerant is R410A prior to the piping work. (Unit cannot work properly if refrigerant is not correct.) ZX donot get any gas into the refrigerant circuit except the specified refrigerant. Ventilate the room immediately in case refrigerant gas leaks during installation work. © The outdoor unit is charged with refrigerant. © Be sure to use a spanner and a torque wrench together when connecting or disconnecting pipes to/from the unit. And initially tighten by hand 3 or 4 turns and then tighten it firmly. © Refer to table 2 to determine the proper tightening torque. Table 2. From that position, tighten the nut further by the appropriate angle listed in table below. CAUTION Please comply with the followings © When connecting the flare nut, coat the flare both inside and outside with ester oil or ether oil © Only the flare nut attached with unit can be used. Using other flare nut may result in refrigerant leakage. © Please seal the end of the pipe in order to prevent dust, moisture or other foreign matter entering the pipe. © Do not mix any gas to refrigerant circuit except the specified refrigerant. © Before brazing refrigerant piping, nitrogen gas shall be blown through the piping to expel air from the piping. Or, charge the nitrogen when brazing. Last, connect the unit with flare nuts. ——/\ caution © Nitrogen shall be set to 0.02MPa (0.2kgf? cm’) with a pressure-reducing valve if brazing while inserting nitrogen into piping. ial YORK BY JOHNSON CONTROLS VRE Air-Conditioner @ Do not use flux when brazing refrigerant piping. Therefore, use the phosphor copper brazing filler metal which does not require flux, If the chlorine based flux is used, it will cause pipe corrosion or affect the refrigerant pipe cleanness. GAS TIGHTNESS TEST © Gas tightness test shall be done after the piping connection is completed. © Operation method: (a)Fill in dry nitrogen into the refrigerant piping and let the pressure rise to 4.3MPa slowly. (b)The specified pressure shall be maintained for 10 minutes, and then apply soap water or other foaming agent to the connection positions, such as welding seams, nipples, ete. for leak- age detection. (c)lfithas leakage, then tighten or braze the leakagepoint. (d)Charge the dry nitrogen again and raise the pressure to 4.3Mpa slowly. (c)The pressure needs to be maintained for 6 hours and then record the pressure value through the manometer. 24 hours later, record the pressure again. (e)No pressure drop after 24 hours means it has no leakage. Otherwise, the leaking point must be found and fixed. Then repeat the above (d) and (e) steps. -/\ caution —————— © Gas pressure is relevant to ambient temper- ature. So temperature should be taken into account when calculating the pressure variat- ion. Otherwise, it may result in nitrogen gas entering into the outdoor unit. Heat Insulation © After making sure it has no leakage, be sure to insulate the connection parts of both liquid and and gas pipe with sufficient thickness heat-resistant polythylene materials. © Be sure to insulate the field piping all the way to the piping connection inside the unit. Any exposed piping may cause water condens- ation or burning if touched. 8 DRAIN PIPING WORK (1)Install the drain piping: Please perform the drain piping work to ensure it works well. © The diameter of the drain pipe should be no less than the diameter of the connecting pipe. (Drainage pipe size; internal diameter: 25mm; external diameter: 32mm) © Keep the drain pipe short and downward gradient of at least 1/100 to prevent air pockets from forming. — ele correct O wrong X A\ tyarops in drainage pipe would result in poor draining. ial YORK BY JOHNSON CONTROLS VRE Air-Conditioner © Ifthe drainage hose’s downward gradient is not enough, adding a drainage raising piping is necessary, © To prevent the drain hose from sagging, the distance between two adjoining hanging brackets should be 1 to 1.5m. © Use the drainage hose and metal clamp attached to the unit. Insert the drainage hose into the drain socket up to the white tape. Tighten the clamp until the serew-head is less than 4mm over the metal clamp. © Perform the heat insulation on drain connection and metal clamp. © Make sure the following two parts are well insulated to prevent from producing condensed water and its dripping. + Indoor unit drainage connection + Metal clamp © Height of raising pipe shall be less than 675mm, Moreover,the draining pump in unit is high -lift type. The higher drainage raising pipe,the lower noise it makes. However, 300mm or higher raising pipe. Are recommend. © The distance from drain raising pipe to unit shall be no more than 300mm and it shall be vertical to unit. Tm Shan 100 oavord ap) L Select central drain pipe of proper size according to the total capacity of the connected units. © Do not twist or bend the drain hose, or apply any force on it © If multiple central drain pipes are connected to one header pipe, please follow the figure above as reference (2)Check if the drainage is smooth after installation, Drainage test shall be executed as followings. AFTER ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION IS COMPLETED © In order to avoid water accumulation in electrical parts like draining pump, inject 1000 ml water into airflow outlet, what is located at the left side of drain connection. Check the draining performance during cooling operation runs. Execute the drain connection after drainage test. BEFORE ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION IS COMPLETED ZX 2@ Alletectrical wiring works (including grounding) shall be performed by specially qualified electricians 1)Take off the electrical box cover. Connect the single phase 220V/50Hz to terminal L and N. 2)Be sure the cover is completely covered before power-on. 3)In order to avoid electrical parts like draining pump are dipped, inject the 1000ml water to airflow outlet, what is located at the left side 10 ial YORK BY JOHNSON CONTROLS VRE Air-Conditioner of drain connection. At this time, do not dip the draining pump. 4)Turn the power on, and operate the draining pump to check the drainage. Execute the heat insulation for drain connection after drainage test is completed. Drain pipe connestion location of drain pomp P ZX 2 Please note, the fan is running at the same time. © Do not touch draining pump to prevent electric shock. 5)Power off after drain test and then take off power cable. 6)Return the electrical box cover and fix it securely. ——/\ caution © Drain hose connection: Do not connect the drain pipes to cess-pipe filled with ammonia gas. Ammonia would go to indoor unit through the inside of the drain pipe and corrode the heat exchanger. © Please note, the hydrops may be the reason why drain pipe is blocked. 9 ELECTRICAL WIRING WORK © All supplied parts, materials and electrical works must conform to local codes. © Use copper wires only. © See the WIRING DIAGRAM attached to unit for wiring work as reference. ll © For the electrical circuit and detailed instal- lation for wire controller please refer to the 10M attached with wire controller. © All wiring must be performed by the qualif- ied electrician. © A circuit breaker capable of shutting down the power supply to the entire system must be installed. ‘© Complete all wirings prior to opening master switch. © For the specifications for outdoor power supply, breaker, switch and wiring, please refer to the IOM of outdoor unit. © The system contains multiple indoor units. Please code them before installation. Must ensure the wire number of indoor unit is align- ed with the one on outdoor terminals while communicating connection. It will malfunction if the communicating connection is wrong. @ Be sure the air-conditioner is grounded well. Never connect the ground line to gas pipe, water pipe, lightning conductor or telephone lines. Poor grounding results in dangerous or deadly electric shock. m Gas pipe: It may result in fire and/or explosion when gas leaks. m= Water pipe: It is no use to connect the ground line to polyethylene. ™ Lightening rod or telephone line grounding: It is very dangers that electrical potential would rise abnormally when thunder shock. © Must use wire terminals with insulation sleeve in order to prevent short pass © Fix the wires securely. Secure to prevent external pressure being exerted on the terminal board. © Wires layout should be in order. Field control is set by remote controller. It depends on actual field conditions to determine if field setting is necessary. (1) Please make sure the electrical box covers are fixed securely. (2) Field controls setting Given to varied installation conditions, use wire controller to set the controls. Please perform the electrical setting according to the steps of the chapter “Function setting and operation” in the IOM of wire controller.
