Assignment (Evaluating Research Evidence)

In an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, they revealed some food

ingredients that should be avoided. The host had a guest who is a doctor,
presenting a list of food or ingredients that should be avoided at all costs.
These ingredients are added sugar, high fructose corn syrup, enriched
flour, saturated fat foods, hydrogenated vegetable oil, and trans fat foods.

The show had Dr. Mehmet Oz, a heart surgeon in that episode. He
claimed that the ingredients mentioned above are bad for the health and
provided evidences to support his claims. Dr. Oz presented the real
ingredients as examples in the show. Such claims were systematically
evaluated as the guest and the host itself have explained the matter well.
During their discussion, they have mentioned topics that revolve around the
field of science. In addition, their discussion was favorable for me as a
viewer because it informs me and allows me to be aware of such
ingredients. Moreover, the host seemed to favor systematic studies in this
particular episode as this episode addresses health, an important topic.

To sum, I find the presented evidence persuasive because of the well

explained discussion of the guest and the host wherein the guest presented
the risk of taking these ingredients and the strategy of reading nutritional
labels in products. I have learned the importance of being aware of the food
you will take as well as the purposes and origins of the ingredients in the
list. On the other hand, I would like to hear a more detailed explanation of
the foods that contain these ingredients for the evidence to be persuasive.
