IV. FIRST AID MEASURE________________________________________________
Emergency Procedures:
• Inhalation:
Remove personnel from exposure area to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If
breathing ceases, use bag-valve resuscitator or similar device to perform artificial respiration. Get
medical attention immediately.
• Skin Contact:
Remove contaminated clothing, jewelry and shoes immediately. Wash with soap or mild detergent and
large amounts of water until no evidence of chemical remains (at least 15~20 minutes). If irritation or
adverse symptoms develop, seek medical attention.
• Eye Contact:
Flush eyes immediately with running water for at least fifteen minutes, occasionally lifting upper and
lower lids, until no evidence of chemical remains. Get medical attention
immediately.
• Ingestion:
Get medical attention immediately.____________________
Critical symptoms and effects of hazards: — Protection of First - aider:
1. Wear protective clothing.
Fuel Oil 1/6
2. Wear splash resistant safety goggles.____________________
Notes to Physician: For ingestion, consider gastric lavage.

V. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Suitable Extinguishing Media: regular dry chemical, carbon dioxide, water, regular foam. Large-scale fires:
Use regular foam or flood with fine water spray.________________________________________________
Specific Hazards:
Moderate fire hazard. Vapor/ air mixtures are explosive above flash point. The vapor is heavier than air.
Vapors or gases may ignite at distant ignition sources and flash back._______________________________
Special Fire Fighting Procedures:
1. Move container from fire area if it can be done without risk.
2. Cool containers with water spray in order to ease the probability of explosion, until fire is out.
3. Withdraw immediately in case of rising sound from venting safety device or any discoloration of tanks due
to fire.
4. For fires in cargo or storage area: Cool containers with water from unmanned hose holder or monitor
nozzles until well after fire is out.
5. For tank, rail car or tank truck: Evacuation radius: 800 meters (1/2 miles).
6. Do not scatter spilled material with high-pressure water streams.
7. Keep unnecessary people away, isolate hazard area and deny entry.
8. Do not attempt to extinguish fire unless flow of material can be stopped first. Flood with fine water spray.
9. Avoid inhalation of material or combustion by-products.
Specific fire fighting equipments:
1. Fire fighters should wear protective clothing and air-breathing apparatus and stay upwind.
2. Fire fighters should not access airtight spaces without wearing protective clothing and self-contained
breathing apparatus.

VI. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES__________________________________________________

Personal Precautions:
1. Avoid heat, flames, sparks and other sources of ignition.
2. Wear suitable protective device and stay upwind.
3. Notify Local Emergency Planning Committee and State Emergency Response Commission for
release greater than or equal to RQ (U.S. SARA Section 304),____________________________________
Environmental Precautions:
1. Reduce vapors with water spray.
2. Stop leak if possible without personal risk.
3. Provide appropriate protective device and ventilation equipment.
4. Remove sources of ignition. Keep unnecessary people away, isolate hazard area and deny entry. Methods
for Cleaning Up:
1. Small spills: Absorb with sand or other non-combustible material. Collect spilled material in appropriate
containers for disposal.
2. Large spills: Dike for later disposal.
3. Where feasible and appropriate, remove contaminated soil.
VII. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling:
1. Wear protective equipment, if exposure conditions warrant.
2. Wash thoroughly after handling.
3. Use with adequate ventilation.
4. No smoking in work area.
5. Protect from physical damage.
6. Avoid inhalation of vapor, oil mist etc.
7. Handle in accordance with all current regulations and standards.
Storage:
1. Keep away from flames, heat, sparks and all sources of ignition.
2. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
Fuel Oil 2/6
3. Store in tightly closed container(s).
4. Bond and ground during transfer.
5. Keep separated from incompatible substances.
6. Storage in accordance with all current regulations and standards.
7. Subject to storage regulations : U.S. OSHA29 CFR 1910,106

VIH. EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION

Engineering Control:
Provide local exhaust ventilation system. Ventilation equipment should be explosion- resistant if explosive
concentrations of material are present. Ensure compliance with applicable exposure limits.

Personal Protection Equipment:

• Respiratory Protection:
Under conditions of frequent use or heavy exposure, respiratory protection may be needed. Respiratory
protection is ranked in order from minimum to maximum. Consider warning properties before use.
Any chemical cartridge respirator with organic vapor cartridges.
Any chemical cartridge respirator with a full facepiece and organic vapor cartridges.
Any air-purifying respirator with a full facepiece and organic vapor canister.
• Hand Protection:
Wear appropriate chemical resistant gloves.
• Eye Protection:
Wear splash resistant safety goggles. Provide an emergency eye wash fountain and quick drench shower
in the immediate work area.
• Skin and Body Protection:
Wear appropriate chemical resistant clothing. Remove any chemical soaked clothing immediately.
Health Consideration:
1. Check the integrities of safety goggles, chemical resistant gloves, clothing and breathing utensils.
2. Remove and wash contaminated clothing. Inform hazards to cleanser. Wash face and hands with soap and
detergent.
3. Ingest nutriments that contain proper amounts of vitamins and minerals and take health examination
regularly.
