In fact, this 's a great way to introduce regular players to the vampire world, as the adventure takes place over a period of ‘womonths, allowing the players toads to their new state of being while sill interacting with the same good of" Cyberpunk realty: you know... sharp neon lights, glistening cyberware, biosculpted bodies, thy alley, the exhilaration of your boosted reflexes, tho thrill ofthe hunt, fst cars, even faster death, the life, the edge... the Night's Edge. Although the adventure is set in Night Cty, you can easily ‘adept it to your own campaign city with very few adjust ‘ments. For those of you who would not use Night's Edge (a shame), theadventurecan just as easilybe altered toft your needs lformaceinformation look under the section "HOOKS") as it's vided in five parts, each detaling locations, actions, encounters, reactionsand NPCs fora smooth running oper tion, GMs are advised to road through the entire scenario before play and take note of the sequence of events for ‘maximum enjoyment. BAY TIPS True to form, mood music is especialy rio to have during 9 game of Cyberpunk. and doubly 80 ina Night's Edge cam- paign. Heres sample lst of suggested songs fr each part of the game: PART 1 - Wil wo survive? (Swans, White Light from the Mouth of infinity, Shedowpiay (oy Division, Un- known Pleesures) or anything to build a mood of lurking doom. PART 2 Dense Mecabre Saint Saens, Tin Omen (Skinny Puppy] or anything suggesting a lightning attack PART 3- Icemember nothing Joy Division, Unknown Peas ures), A Forest (The Cur, Seventeen Seconds] or anything lonely andlost. PART 4- Poice Truck (Dead Kennedys, Fesh Fritfor Rotting Vegetables), Body Count le, 0.6. Orig nal Gangster or anyching predotory and combatike, PART 5 Saturn, the bringer ofoidage (Hols, The Pinets), Inside the termite mound (ing Joke, Extemites, Dirt and Various Repressed Emotions) or anything gloomy and restive Aside from music, low lighting is recommended as it pro- Vides greet atmosphere and reducos chatter among players SUMMARY OF THE ADVENTURE {A fow yoars ago, ARASAKA began a top-secret project to Create the ultimate warrior, one that would be tougher than any cyber-boosted solo on the streets, without fear of ‘eyberpsychosis, one that would also be entirely under ARASAKA’s conto, listening and obeying without ques- tions, Thus was born PROJECT A-47 (ater dubbed PROJECT A.D.AM-Advanced DNA-tecombinant Artificial Man), under the genius of Professor Iyesu Tanga and his team of scien: tists, ‘The project was a wemendous success, at least on the biogenetic level. t produced a new breed of warrior, faster, stronger, and possessing an amazing regeneration capabil ity. However, there was one smal side-effect:in order forhis bioengineered metabolism to regenerate at peak efficiency, | he needed the purest source of proteins available... human blood. Notthe least bothered by this small lav, ARASAKA\intended. 10 take over the “education” of Adam in order to make him their obedient pawn, but Professor lyesu got wind of the imminent takeover and took off with Adam before the ‘company could secure them, Now ARASAKA\s afterthemto bring Adam back for completion of his programing, and to meke sure lyesu understands who the boss is after making sure they have all his files on the project, of course!) ‘Adam and lyesu led to Night City, hoping to escape the eyes ‘of ARASAKA, But Adam started prowing the streets of the ity, looking for nourishment, trying to keep es low a profile as possible, Eventually, he began to notice that others seemed to have the safne need for blood that he had. His ‘curiosity took the better of himand, after some investigation, he began tolear about the vampire underground society. Of course he tried to tell Iyesu about his discovery, but the professor was too doeply involvedin a newattemptto craste ‘perfect being, without the flaw Adam was plagued with: a new project called LILITH. ARASAKA, however, hasheardo therumarsabout so-called “vampires” in Night Cty and... wel, they CAN add two and two together. Their fist rotrioval attempt is based on a snitch’ inf actually lucky quess) but doesn’ tturn outquite asexpected. Adam and lyesu aren't there, and wien they try to move out with someone to interrogate him later, the guy bursts in flames! Discovering the potential oftheir target, ARASAKA officials think that someone is launching a large scale experiment oftheir project, suspecting lyesu of having sought the financial backing of a rival company. Sensing an immediate threat to their internal security, ARASAKA begi aseries of radon covens of vampires, led by amadvampire's ‘need for revenge against those who made him @ monster fetal very god branching othe vam hey ook in their first rai) Having learned of ARASAKA'sinvolvementin the raid, Adam ‘wales that they are after him and the professor. Not wanting to alert lyesu and seeking to show him he can take care of things, Adam ralies a gang of misfits called the “Death's Heads" intoattacking the local otfices of ARASAKA, \Neediess to say, the gangs slauahtered and Adam escapes into the night again. But this time, ARASAKA knows he is there and ups the ante, determined to wrap this operation before someone else puts their nose too deep into it. Wel, somebody does. Al thisruckus has attracted the ttontion of the local chapter of the Sun Knights, who will offer their “services” 10 those “fine folks” at ARASAKA’s (who don't mind that these now ales think they are hunting real varn- pires, as long as they do the joband leave a few bodies intact {or the research and development team), Faced with no other choice now (through skilful manipula tion ofthe medias, Adamnis now held responsible fo allrids ‘8 wall asthe attack on ARASAKA's offices, described 2s a dispruntled employee, complete with fake background pro- vided by ARASAKA itself, Adam tells Iyesu of ARASAKA's ‘attempt to flush them out, Together they deviseaplan which wil aliow them to both escape and crigple ARASAKA'S means to follow, while at the same time sending a clear message that they are to be left alone from now on. Realizing that they would need superior forces to win over ARASAKA, and without the financial means to reise acortin- gentof solos, Adam decides ona risky gambit: togain the aid ‘of the vampire community, already deeply scarred and wish- ing to get even with their mysterious attacker. So the stage issetand on Christmas’ Eve, Adam leads band of vampires into ARASAKA's offices under the covar ofa near total black- out provided by Iyesu. When the dust settles down, ARASAKA'S offices are thoroughly ensacked, the vampire community slowly rebuilds itsolf and Adsm and lyesu have departed for parts unknown, HOOKS Ater reading the above summary, one can wonder how to introduce players into it, especially if they are not vampires. PART 1: Piece of cake, is designed specifically for turing ‘regular piayersintonew vampires which willthen ave avery ‘personal stake no pun intended) inthe adventure to come. For those of you wishing to avoid the Night's Edge for now, simply ignore PART 1 and use the following ideas to involve ‘your party, depending on their main intrest. As vampire player-characters also have some kind of protes- sion (even if most are forced to ply their rade only at night) like their nonvampire counterparts, the motivation behind these hooks can also provide addtional reasons to get involved. ‘The scenario is flexible enough to handle anything from @ single player upto six or more (more could be a good ide if players are fo confront the vampires at the showdown, as 2 Fegular threesome or foursome, unless prepared, would be hard pressed against the fury of children ofthe night.) + COPS: Aside from obviously being assigned to inves: tigete the evonts of PART 2 and followup, law-en- forcement agents could be involved from the start. ‘ying to solve the mysterious Gisappearance ofa rch ‘corporate from his Japanese homeland while on 3 ‘business tip tothe United States. The concemed wife (of missing rafessor lyesu Tanga has provided a photo ‘of him with a fiend from work: Adam. + CORPORATES: If you are looking for a challenge, the charactors could play the ARASAKA boys responsible {to bring back Adam and iyesu tothe fold, meaning no ‘good lead will come up until the snitch tis the charec- ters about the coven. OF course it wouldn't be a bad ‘dea to keep an eye on anyone hired by the loving wile, just in case... Ina totally different light, nomARASAKA alioned cor- ‘porate could have heardof a secret PROJECT A-47 and (of lyesu going AWOL; the top dog wants to know what ‘was that al about, and you are the lucky ones chosen for this mission; @ golden opportunity to climb a few bars on the corporate ladder... be careful nat to miss a Step. ‘© FIXERS: Many people are going to come looking for information in this adventure and the smart fixer wil put his money where his mouth is by investigating all the ruckus. Maybe he knows that 2 hotshot genetic ‘engineer has set up shop somewhere in the harbor ‘area, working on some hush-hush project and asking ‘around for some high-tech gizmos. Of course, snoop: ing ground CAN be dangerous, especially if there's rumor that semething is out thar. + GANG MEMBERS: Substituting your gang for the "Death's Heads" is a sure way to see major action in PART 4, but is also a sure way to get you killed! However, it is @ notorious trait that gangs are very territorial and wouldnt look kindly to a new guy setting shop on their turf without being invited first, let alone a band of suspicious boys going out only at night! Of course, corporate intrusion is downright heretic, espe- cialyifthey bum the ‘hood n the process, unless proper “compensation” has been offered. * MEDIAS: Rumor has it that a top ARASAKAdepan ‘corporate has fled to tho United States with corporate secrets. Your informant tells you that he might want to {gotin touch with former colleague living in Night City. Imagine if you could get en exclusive interview, what 2 ‘scoop! Better than chasing elusives vampire-posers, NETRUNNERS: Word has it thet someone is trying real hard to cover his tracks from 3 notto-be-named major corporation and wouldppay handsomely fr the services ofagoodrunner. Of course, saidnot-to-be-named major Corporation might just pay double that to know where he's. NOMADS: The pack is in town for the winter ant they've made friends with a local gang after helping them out when their base was atacked bya rival gang: the "Death's Heads”. Now they are quietly bunking in ‘an abandoned warehouse by the harbor, nobody but ‘occasional coos doing their jb... than again, there are Iysterious noises coming sometimes in the mile of the night from an old cargo wreck up the main pie. ROCKERBOYS: Life is good, chump; lots of fans, lots of chicks, andall that because of thisnew owner of your regular ciub who took liking to your music and offered you a steady gig at his place. \Well now, even if the guy isa litle on the weird side, ing out only at night and al, that doesn’t mean that Yyou wil let anyone torch his place... especialy if some big corporation seems to be out again to crush any- thing that stands in its way. SOLOS: Well, let's see..ither Il take “Looking for experienced dental extractor specilst. Work with 2 team or alone. Established company, full social ben- efits avaliable. Contact your local AAAA office”; or “Wanted: Around the clock nurse for nutty professor. Exporiance and references mandatory. Contact Adam con Skynet: A-47". You get the picture, TECHIES: You've been told that someone is looking for a few good techies to work on a special project. Interested parties are to bring their résumé to a se- cluded spotin the harbor area fo interview by a certain r. Frank Einstein, Candidates must be wiling to work ‘major hours, but all in the name of sciencel... (Also MEDTECHIES) VAMPIRES: Aside from the obvious, already estab- lished vampires might want to get to known this new vampire in town... this Adam. \VAMPIRE-HUNTERS: Rumors abound that Night City hosts something that prowisin the night, Posers orthe real thing? Better to have @ look, you know what they say: where there's smoke. ‘SEQUENCE OF EVENTS This is what should normally happen outside the characters’ influence during the course of the scenario. Of course,
