BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

NORTHERN CASS PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 97

Wednesday, September 15, 2010 – 7:30 p.m.

Present: Jody Bohn, Audie Brorson, Joel Degerness, Bart Marvel,


Susie McDonald, Lance Nelson, Char Pueppke
Julie Keckler – Business Manager
Allen Burgad – Superintendent

Meeting called to order by President Brorson.

Also present: Crysta Wagner, elementary principal; Aaron Schramm, middle school/high school
principal and Louise Tegtmeier.

Moved by Bohn second by Nelson to approve minutes from August 16, 2010 meeting as
presented – carried unanimously on roll call vote.

Moved by McDonald second by Degerness to approve agenda as amended– carried unanimously


on roll call vote.

Moved by Nelson second by Marvel to approve General Fund, Activity Fund and Hot Lunch
financial and heating and electric reports for August as presented - carried unanimously on roll
call vote.

Principal and REA reports presented.

Moved by Pueppke second by Degerness to approve General Fund bills for payment as presented
– carried unanimously on roll call vote.

OLD BUSINESS

Board received copy of demand for arbitration from KBW for modification of the elevations for
sidewalks and parking lots. Board directed Mr. Burgad to contact KBW and move forward on
finding a mediator for the arbitration.

Mr. Burgad is still working on collecting estimated cost for stadium seating. Marvel said
preliminary estimates for baseball field lighting would be around $65,000.

Mr. Burgad reported on literacy workshop that was held on Tuesday and Wednesday for staff.

NEW BUSINESS

Bus number 3 has been in and out of the shop for a number of months and is broke down again.
The transportation committee recommendation is to pay the fee to look into what the total cost
would be to repair it and then make a decision after that as to whether to replace it or repair it.
Transportation committee also recommended purchasing a used bus to add to our fleet for routes
or extra-curricular runs. Moved by Degerness second by McDonald to purchase used 2007
Bluebird 77 passenger bus for $47,000 – carried unanimously on roll call vote.

Information presented on Annual School Board Convention being held in Bismarck on October
29-30th and new member seminar to be held October 28th.

Moved by Bohn second by Pueppke to approve Louise Tegtmeier contract for Destination
Imagination advisor – carried unanimously on roll call vote.

Emergency response plan will be reviewed.

Meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
