TOPIC: Casual-Dining restaurant preferences: A Cross-Cultural comparison.

REFERENCE APPROVED: by journal of foodservice business research. Date: 2015
TOPIC: “Eat the world” postcolonial encounters in Quebec City’s ethnic restaurants.
REFERENCE APPROVED: By journal of American Folklore. Date: spring 2002.

The ambiguous reason for choosing these two topics are relate to my article details and its
provide me elements that will developpe my sentence below.

Topic one casual-Dining restaurant preferences actually elusive the context of the dining
restaurant of different cultures which also will have a huge impact on my story down below.

Topic two “Eat the world” is elusive the multisided inquiry that ethnic restaurants has
developed.

Generally speaking, I have been told that Spanish restaurants were a good place to go

eat, when it comes to try something different than usual. Agitate and excited by the restaurant
name we were all happy, edgy to sate our appetite. On Saturday night, my students’ friend and I
couldn’t decide where to go eat after a minute or two undecided moment, Pedro took the lead
and chose to take us to a Salvadoran restaurant, La Rosa Del Pupusa. All of them were
stimulated, their eyelids were raised, eyes were greatly opened, and there were shaking their
head up and down with approval. Then I have told myself that it will probably be a good
thing. All the way while driving, I was wondering how the food is going to look like, taste
like, and another reason was the fact of my first time to be in a Spanish restaurant.

“The results of this multisided inquiry show that ethnic restaurants have developed
rapidly, representing microspaces of intercultural encounter and exchange, places where people
can see touch, and consume the cuisine of the other”.

During driving no one was wondering about my questioning attitude, in any case I have

been showing my thought, thousand questions was going through my brain,
mathematically equations, as an illustration of imagine my own situation and how to resolve it.
In the meantime, the next step was just to wait until things happen, in addition to cool
myself down a quick thought came up and remind me that people use to say Spanish are
similar like French, so I start to feel a little more relaxed. As the soft music was playing, I felt
my body relax against the seat as I gazed out the window. A few moments later, I realized we
were steadily approaching the restaurant. When the car pulled up in the parking lot, I noticed
the restaurants inviting appearance. It was a small structure, but full of happy customers coming
and going. The painting of the building resembled that of the EL Salvador flag.  It was dark blue
and white with small bulbs of light lining the top outline of the building. The light shone

different colors giving the place a festive outer appearance. The smell of El Salvadorian food
beckoned for us to come in. It was almost as if it was saying, “welcome!” Once inside, the
culture of the place was even more evident. Picture frames representing different aspects of the
culture hung on the brightly colored orange walls. The sound of different languages was like
music to my ears. The diverse customer base made me feel even more at ease. The workers
spoke both English and Spanish and were able to communicate with a wide variety of
customers.
Upon entry, a middle-aged friendly man invited us in with warm gestures and helped us
get situated. He handed us our menu and proceeded to explain the different types of meals on the
menu. This was really helpful because honestly, I had no idea where to start! Everything on
the menu looked so good and appealing. After a few minutes he walk away, I was still
undecided what to choose the menu was perplexed with different categories of unknowing food.
Eyes on the menu, I tried to look closely to the chief ingredients, after a time of
observing I luckily decided to have a Chicharron Pupusa. Uncertain with what I chose, Pablo
look at me and realize that something was off. Astound, he approached me with a smile on his
face and asked if everything was okay, a part of me want to play cool by keeping my situation as
a mystery bouquet but on the other side I saw it as an opportunity to resolving my case, so I took
it by telling him the struggles I have been going through. As simple after
told, Chicharron Pupusa wasn’t a bad choice at all made with pork meat, onion, garlic, ground
cumin, masa, recipe follows and three ounces of Pupusa sauce, recipe follows. Sitting back
comfortable breathing deeply, my face was shining light with the result of the all situation. Once
we had our meal, the food was amazing something that I never tried before and, the sure
things were the feedback of the restaurant experience that was thinking to write when I will get
home.
In short, for instance to prevent a perplex complex situation to occur in our routine
life, moreover, work activities, getting together with stranger and many others... A
specifically type research for this purpose in addition to be at the same page must be done.

“The purpose of this study is to expand casual-dining restaurant research and cross-
cultural preference perception by investing whether differences exist between university students
in two cultures.”
