Objectives
 to learn use of petroleum system analysis for exploration
evaluation,
 to learn concepts and methods of elements and processes of
petroleum system, including: sources, reservoirs, carrier beds,
seals, traps, migration, critical timing, preservation of
accumulation,
 to learn geochemistry of oil & gas,
 to learn evolution of basin’s petroleum system,
 to learn how to assess risks of plays and prospects,
 to learn regional petroleum systems & plays of Indonesia
 to discuss and seek solutions of your specific areas/cases
 to enjoy the science and learning together.

Day 1

1. Introducing Petroleum System Analysis


2. Source Rocks: Sedimentology & Geochemistry
3. Overburden Rocks & Source Maturation
4. Generation of Petroleum
5. Volumetric Calculation of Petroleum Generated

Day 2

6. Expulsion of Petroleum
7. Carrier Bed & Regional Sealing as Media & Roof of Migration
8. Secondary Migration and Accumulation of Petroleum
9. Siliciclastic Reservoirs: Sedimentology & Characteristics
10. Carbonate Reservoirs: Sedimentology & Characteristics

13. Traps: Structural, Stratigraphic, Hydrodynamic

Course Schedule
Monday - Friday
• 08.00 -10.00 am: lecture
• 10.00 -10.15 am: coffee break
• 10.15 -12.00 am: lecture
• 12.00 -13.00 pm: lunch break
• 13.00 -15.00 pm: lecture
• 15.00 -15.15 pm: coffee break
• 15.15 -17.00 pm: lecture

On Friday, 12.00 – 14.00: Friday’s prayer for Moslem & lunch break,
14.00-15.30: lecture, 15.30-15.45: coffee break, 15.45-17.00: lecture,
17.00: course closing

There is possibility of one-two evening class/es from 19.00-21.00,


depending on the class’s progress, dinner/s is/are provided, will be
determined later.

Awang Harun Satyana


 Born: Bandung, 24 September 1964
 Education: Geology, University of Padjadjaran, Bandung (S1, graduated in 1989)
 History of Affiliations (has been 23 years in petroleum industry)
 1990-2002: Exploration Pertamina
 2002-2012: Exploration BPMIGAS
 20012-now: SKK Migas
 Position: VP Management Representative SKK Migas for Pertamina EP
 Professional Organization: IAGI, IPA, HAGI, AAPG, IATMI, GSA
 Publications: 318 publications (88 papers for conferences, 55 articles for journals/others, 6 chapters
for 6 books, 94 invited presentations and/keynotes, 42 guest lectures, 33 course manuals)
 Instructor for professional courses: (1) Petroleum Geology of Indonesia, (2) Petroleum
Geochemistry, (3) Petroleum System Analysis, (4) Tectonics and Structure, (5) Drilling Budget
 Fieldtrip instructor for professionals and public
