We started with measurements in a grassy area in the park. They were right next to each other

but one was sunny and one was shady and there was quite a large difference in their surface

temperature even though the air temperature wasn’t affected. We also tested the permeable

pavement which we think was cooler than regular pavement would be because it was lighter.

Cloud Data Expert: Irma Nelson

Data:

-Clear (no clouds)

-Blue sky

-Sunny

The cloud data for October 3rd was simple to collect and observe. Throughout the day, the sky

remained clear and blue, with no clouds in the visible atmosphere.

Tree Data Expert: Madelyn Coble

Data:
1: 89 ft Pine

2: 60 ft White Oak

The tree-data collecting process was fairly simple. One took pictures of the base, body, and top

of the tree and took a number of steps to reach the base. Globe calculated its height based on

the angles. Pine was the most common tree at the site (tree #1).

Essentially, the land cover within the garden was highly varied, the gravel paths and the
lawns and the forested areas created an area with no one land cover, this variability is shown in
the data summary above. This variability is responsible for the varied ground temperature
readings.
