French inventors and inventions

The French have helped change the world with many inventions. Most of these

inventions we still use today or those inventions with some little modifications.

Some of the most important inventions are the foods that the French created. Some

of the originals that everyone knows about like all the different types of French cheese,

the champagne that is made only in France, and the classics like Baguettes and

Croissants. There are also some more exotic and luxurious meals like frog legs,

ratatouille, and frog legs. The cheeses that the French have there is anywhere from 350 to

400 different types. They also made methods for others to make food easier. One method

that was invented by Jean-Baptiste de Belloy in 1880 was called Percolation. This
method makes it easier for people to make coffee. To preserve food better they came up

with the method of canning. Also, the refrigerator was invented to also preserve food.

Clothing is a very important part of French culture. And their fashion industry is

huge. Many different designers created new methods and clothing items, many of which

we still do today. Textiles were invented by a guy named Denim Textile, and now textile

factories are huge everywhere. And the little black dresses were invented by the famous

designer Coco Chanel. Another famous designer was Christian Dior who invented the

pencil skirt for females. And the modern bikini was designed in 1946.

The French also made a lot of invention for military purposes and warfare. The

Pot-de-fer was a primitive cannon used during the hundred-year war. The flintlock was

invented by Marin le Bourgeoys in 1612. Also, the bayonet was invented in France which

is a very important weapon used in the World Wars. The modern military uniform was

made by the French in the mid 17th century. The Corps were made by Napoleon. The

French were also responsible for creating the first reliable muzzle loading gun. Also the

French came up with the first Air Force in 1910.Around the same time the French
developed the first tanks. This is also the first gun to use a full metal jacket bullets. This

gun was the Lebel Model 1886 rifle.
