We all know that we are in an era where technology is undeniably more advance than in
the past years. And I can say that technology has a huge impact on the development of
our country and in our society. But one question suddenly popped into my mind, and
ask "where it all started, how it all started?". So our professor in STS gave us a module
that gives me an insight and enables us to learn the historical development of science
and technology. In our lesson, I discovered that the Egyptian and era and
Mesopotamian era contributes a lot to the development of science and technology. And
some of these contributions are related to writings, medicine, mathematics, and
astronomy.

Thousand years ago, Sumerians invented the first way to convey messages as a result of
their economic and administrative needs. They used pictograms and logograms to
communicate with each other. Also during their era, Babylonians believed that planets
are identified with Gods, and in the first millennia B.C they have created almanacs, non-
mathematical diaries, and numerical planetary tables. Also, the Egyptian and
Mesopotamian era contributes a lot to mathematics that developed as time passed by.
And before they have created Egyptian mathematics, Babylonian mathematics, and
Egyptian geometry. based on some sources I've read, the Mesopotamians also
developed a highly sophisticated mathematical system with a sexagesimal place-
notation that helps them to calculate to make up a year and, and what times of the year
were optimal for what activities. And Last, in terms of medicine, they also contributed a
lot to our culture and medicine field. The myths we believe that people got sick because
of the invasion of the evil spirit started with them. So they use pharmacological
remedies to cure the disease of a person accompanied by their rituals. Also, they
created the papyrus that contains remedies for several diseases.

In conclusion, I can say that without their contributions and inventions, we are not able
to have the things we have right now. We are not able to know the history, the culture,
and roots of everything. And It is important to know where it all started, for it preserves
our future, and helps our country to develop. Mesopotamian and Egyptian science and
technology, informed the later disciplines of other civilizations, which develop them
further, and these advances in culture, science, and technology inform the world of the
present day.
