behaviour, gestures, language, and expressions)
“LOVE, SIMON”
Culture:

 They held a party in a house to celebrate an event when the parents’ not home. In the
film, when Bram is throwing a Halloween Party at his house and invited some of his
friends and classmates. They really enjoy the party and playing some games, dancing and
singing. Unlike any other countries, especially Asian countries held there party
sometimes at the bar or a certain resort.
 They don’t actually care about how they dress to school everyday. In the film, they don’t
have a school uniform and has no rules on dress codes. They can cross-dress, can wear
short skirt, short, sleeveless and whatever clothing they had.
 It’s okay to kiss in public.
 Family oriented is also being practiced in this movie because even the main actor who is
Simon is not a child anymore but he still has the time to bond with his parents.

Behavior:

 The behaviour of the characteristics in the movie “Love, Simon” is it has a positive and
negative side. In the positive side of the behaviour in the characters is you can really see
that they really value friendship, they really helped each other and lift each other’s up.
Being true to oneself and showing other people what you really are. Lastly, respect for
parents is also shown in this movie. The negative side of the behaviour of all the
characters is each one of them has a wild side. They are a bit liberated. There are people
who did verbal bullying, cyberbullying, discrimination, betrayal that is being shown in
the movie which is what mostly happening in the western countries.

Gestures:

 The gestures that we’ve saw in this movie are kiss in the forehead, kiss in the cheek, hug,
handshakes, tap in the back, and kiss in the lips. Kiss in the forehead and kiss in the
cheek represents the love of the mother towards her child (main character, Simon) and
also it makes cheer him up. Hug from his father represents comfort which makes the
main charater feel better and also which means his father already accepted who and what
he is. Handshaking represents saying “Congratulations” that is what he received by the
time he confessed that he is a Gay Guy and everyone was proud of him because of the
bravery and courage that he showed. Tap in the back represents “it’s okay” he received
that when his friends forgive him for the thing that he did. Lastly, a kiss in the lips

represents sincere and romantic love from someone, the main character received it when
both of them was in the Ferris Wheel, this part is the most special one.

Language:

 American Language
 Explicit – they can say whatever they want so say.

Expressions:

 They are very open and expressive to each other’s feeling towards another. In the film,
when Simon’s family knows that Simon is gay, they give him an advices and cheers for
him and supports him throughout his journey. When Simon is coming out his true gender
towards his friends and confessing that he loves someone who is also a gay. And also
they can express their love towards one another just like how the guy confesses his
feelings towards the girl infront of the thousands of people.
