This book contains only those exercises and solos which have proven to be most effective, Al of the enclosed rudiments and variations are used by Philly Joe Jones and many other drummers. Roy Harte has been teaching this type of drum-set technique for many years. ‘Take your time with the following pages and learn the notation: Bass drum is only notated when it is part of the phrase—other- wise use the bass drum steady, as in keeping time, Metronone tempos designated are end results. Start playing the solos slowly and build. For the average student this is a six month study For full quarter note sounds, sometimes a press-lype stroke should be used rather than a tap. Press-type strokes can be used on cymbals as well as on drums. Even eighth notes can he played as written (SD 0 SD 7D) or relaxed with a dotted eighth and sixteenth feeling ( £773 L5 J5) or with a urpter feeling (dyddgdNdyNdye- I'm sure you will enjoy the book They will if you'll let them. ake all exercises swing.
