INTRODUCTION
The Carlsberg Foundation is one of the world's oldest commercial foundations.
Here, ambitious brewing enterprise blossoms side by side with support for the
finest science, scholarship, art and culture. The Foundation's Chairman is not
just head of the Carlsberg Foundation but also Chairman of the Supervisory
Board of the Carlsberg Group. It has been this way since 1876.
HISTORY
In 1811, Jacob Christian Jacobsen, the founder of Carlsberg, enters the world.
When his father dies in 1835, J.C. Jacobsen takes over as a brewer. J.C. was
born to brew. Driven by his passion for beer and an early interest in the natural
sciences, J.C. Jacobsen sets out on a lifelong journey to improve the quality of
beer. His first stop is Bavaria where he studies the brewing techniques for a new
beer at Gabriel Sedlmayr's zum Spaten brewery in Munich. In the summer of
1845, carrying two pots of Spaten yeast in a customized hat box, J.C. returns to
Denmark by stagecoach.
On this long journey, he keeps the yeast cool by stopping frequently and
dousing it with cold water. J.C. Jacobsen's first batches of lager are made in his
mother's copper wash basin. They are refined in his brewery till he gets them
just right.  This new lager needed a new brewery with larger cool storage space.
Taking the name of his five-year-old son, Carl, and the Danish word for hill,
"bjerg", he builds his new brewery just outside Copenhagen. With that,
Carlsberg is born in 1847. International approval came just 21 years later when
the first Carlsberg beer was exported to Great Britain.

ASIA CARLSBERG GROUP IN INDIA
Carlsberg Group entered India in May 2006 by incorporating a company named
South Asia Breweries Pvt. Ltd. The name changed to Carlsberg India Private
Limited in February 2009 to reflect the company as a part of the Carlsberg
Group.
Carlsberg India’s commercial operations started in June 2007 at the Paonta
Sahib brewery in Himachal Pradesh, with the launch of Carlsberg Green in the
premium-beer segment.
Carlsberg India expanded its operations by establishing Breweries in Alwar,
Rajasthan in March 2008 and in Aurangabad, Maharashtra in August 2008.
Since then, a total of 7 Breweries have been set up, which re-emphasizes the
Carlsberg Group's strategic focus on India.
Keeping up pace with the brewery openings was the market expansion from 5
markets in 2007 to 24 markets in 2008 to 31 markets (including Union
Territories) to date.

Indian consumers have been experiencing Carlsberg since the 1900s, much
before it commenced operations in India in 2007. In 1912, McDowel & Co.Ltd.,
Madras, ordered the first delivery of 10 cases of quarters and 10 cases of pints
each of Carlsberg Munich and Pilsener Beer. Over the years there were many
companies and agents that have brought Carlsberg to India.
However, coming to India in its own identity was a matter of time and
Carlsberg entered India in May 2006 by incorporating a company named South
Asia Breweries Pvt. Ltd. The name was changed to Carlsberg India Private
Limited on February 23, 2009 to reflect the company as a part of the Carlsberg
Group.

The success of Carlsberg’s products globally and in India, can be attributed to
the quality consciousness, the know-how and the technological proficiency
developed by the breweries.

through the international brands Carlsberg Green, Carlsberg Elephant, Tuborg
Green, Tuborg Strong and Tuborg Classic.

INTEGRATED SUPPLY CHAIN
Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) brings together the central procurement,
production, logistics and planning functions in the Carlsberg Group under one
roof.
SC manages the world-wide brewery network in Carlsberg Group, handles the
global procurement processes, sets the global standards for brewing technology
and logistics services and ensures end-to-end planning through the entire supply
chain.
By integrating these functions, we improve the utilisation of our assets,
standardise and streamline processes, increase speed and efficiency and improve
customer service.
PROCUREMENT
The key categories managed by Procurement are raw materials (malted barley,
sugar, hops, etc), packaging materials (cans, glass, PET, etc.), operations (e.g.
transport, facility management and brewing equipment), and sales & marketing
(media, agencies, etc.).
The role of Procurement is to ensure a steady supply of input, manage all supply
risks, negotiate prices and lower the complexity in our supplies. By managing
our procurement of the key categories on a Group level, Carlsberg is able to
optimize terms and conditions and also benefit from longer lasting relationships
with our suppliers.
Production
The Production/Manufacturing & Technology function in the Carlsberg Group
covers the areas at the core of what we do: brewing beer!
The Production/Manufacturing & Technology function in CSC is responsible
for the brewery network in the Carlsberg Group. It ensures a steady supply of
goods, controls the quality of our beers, maintains the brewing equipment in the
most efficient way, and manages the construction of new breweries worldwide.
By bringing together our engineering expertise from our breweries all around
the world we are able to share the very best practice - from the beer recipes and
Lean implementations to the health and safety policies.
Logistics
The Logistics and Customer Supply Chain functions are responsible for
distributing the products to the customers, so that they are always available
when the consumers are ready to buy them – whether that is in the supermarket
or in a bar, pub or restaurant.
The function optimises warehouse networks, distribution and transportation
flows, full E2E planning including demand etc., in order to make sure we move
the beer from our breweries to our customers in the most efficient and
environmentally friendly manner.
Planning
The planning function is the end-to-end support to the whole Supply Chain,
reaching out from our customer's shelves and counters to our suppliers'
suppliers.
Planning ensures that we have the necessary products in stock in our
warehouses, that we produce the right products in the right quantities, and that
we have the right amount of raw materials at all times.
Planning is built on both skills and relationships, combining the strength of a
centrally located planning team and a network of planning teams in the
countries/regions and breweries. On a global scale, Planning develops
capabilities in the areas of planning and customer service.
