As you know, I love Friends and I decided to talk about this TV series,
especially because on September (22), the show celebrated its 25th anniversary.
So, I think that everybody know this series.. I watched all the seasons many times and it
´s incredible because I never get tired of watching.
Thinking about this subject, I wanna tell you some curiosities about Friends.
1) It wasn't always called Friends. Before becoming Friends, the show titles were
Insomnia Café, Friends Like Us, and Six of One.
2) The opening weren't shot in New York. Was shot at Warner Bros. Studios in
California.
3) According to Jennifer Aniston, no one was a real fan of the theme song.
4) Before the pilot aired, the cast went to Las Vegas. They dined inside Caesar’s
Palace to enjoy their “last shot at anonymity.”
5) Friends was supposed to have just four friends. Phoebe and Chandler were
originally written as supporting roles. Can you even imagine?
6) Monica and Joey were supposed to get together.
7) Gunther was a barista IRL (in real life)
8) The big white dog actually belonged to Jennifer Aniston. "Pat the dog" was
given to Aniston by a friend for good luck on the first day of shooting Friends.
9) Everyone on 'Friends' earned the same per episode. By the final season, each
Friend was earning $1 million per episode;
10) The iconic frame on the door of Monica’s apartment was actually a mistake
(Remember the classic gold frame on the back of Monica’s purple door? Yeah,
that was an accident. Greg revealed: ‘The glass on the back of the frame had
broken and while I was dressing up the set for the pilot I asked one of my guys
to put it on the back of the door and open the peephole).
11) Ross and Rachel weren't meant to be the central romance of the series. Their
storyline was developed because of David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston's
chemistry.
12) The storyline of Phoebe carrying her brother's triplets was written because Lisa
Kurdrow was pregnant in real life
13) Bruce Willis appeared in the show for free after losing a bet about whether The
Whole Nine Yards would be No. 1 in the box office on its opening weekend
with Matthew Perry. He donated his fee to charity.
14) David Schwimmer was the first of the main six actors to be cast in the show.
Jennifer Aniston was the last of the main six actors to be cast in the show.
15) Marcel was played by two monkeys, Monkey and Katie.
16) Producers originally wanted Courteney Cox to play Rachel, but she asked to
play Monica because the character was so strong.
17) The orange couch in Central Perk was found in the basement of the Warner
Bros. studio.
18) David Schwimmer directed 10 Friends episodes.
19) Ellen DeGeneres turned down an offer to play Phoebe.
20) When the last series ended, each cast member was given a piece of the sidewalk
from outside Central Perk as a keepsake.
