I just held a workshop where we discussed the many ingredients that are in our makeup today, emphasizing why natural homemade
makeup recipes are a great resource.
One of the frustrating problems is that the dangerous chemicals that are found within makeup are not our only source of toxins that we
encounter on a daily basis. Most women have on average 168 chemicals that they are exposed to, most of which are found within the blood
stream and gathered in locations such as lymph nodes, liver, and breast tissue. Men are slightly better, but still at risk with an exposure to an
average of 85 harsh chemicals per day. 1
It quickly becomes apparent that what’s on that makeup brush really does make a dierence in your overall health. We have thresholds that
don’t like to be crossed. Many women have joint pain, headaches, hormonal problems, and unexplained fatigue that can largely be alleviated
just by a change in diet and chemical exposure.
Parabens are used as a preservative in foods and cosmetics. They pose as estrogen in your blood stream. Your body responds to this extra
estrogen, resulting in estrogen dominate symptoms like year round PMS, soreness, aches, pains, not to mention feeding estrogen responsive
breast cancer cells.
That’s just one ingredient. Paying attention to ingredients matters! Having a list of natural makeup recipes is frugal and a great resource.

It’s clay so it can keep indenitely, but seeing that we introduce bacteria into products I wouldn’t keep longer
than a year.

Is it possible to turn this into a pressed powder with rubbing alcohol or something? Or would that mess up the clay?

I would denitely not put rubbing alcohol on my skin. You can use lotion base but its dicult to get it where it
doesn’t streak.
