Let’s Go For a Walk

Genesis 5:21-24; Hebrews 11:5-6

March 1, 2015

Introduction:

Enoch teaches us life’s lesson of how to walk with God by faith.

Absolutely nothing from men can please God apart from faith.

I have learned that the real worth of a man isn’t what is said
about him while he is alive, but a man’s real worth comes from
what can be said about him after he has died.

I. Enoch Possessed Fellowship with God.

Genesis 5:24 (NASB77) And Enoch walked with God…

Amos 3:3 Can two walk together unless they be agreed?

Jeremiah 29:13 (NASB77) And you will seek me and find

me, when you search for me with all your heart.

II. Enoch Possessed Faith in God.

Hebrews 11:5 (ESV) By faith Enoch was taken up so that

he should not see death, and he was not found, because
God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was
commended as having pleased God.

Adrian Rogers:
“If you please God it doesn’t matter who you don’t
please, but if you don’t please God it doesn’t matter
who you do please.”

Genesis 5:21 (NASB77) And Enoch lived sixty-five years,

and became the father of Methuselah.

Genesis 5:27 (NASB77) So all the days of Methuselah were

nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.
Jude 1:14-15 (NASB77) And about these also Enoch, in
the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying,
"Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy
ones, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convict all
the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have
done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which
ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.

Genesis 4:17 (NASB77) And Cain had relations with his

wife and she conceived, and gave birth to Enoch; and he
built a city, and called the name of the city Enoch, after
the name of his son.

The closer we get to God the more sensitive we ought to

be to the unrighteous culture of our day.

III. Enoch Possessed a Future with God.

Genesis 5:24 (NASB77) And Enoch walked with God; and

he was not, for God took him.

Hebrews 11:5 (ESV) By faith Enoch was taken up so that

he should not see death, and he was not found, because
God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was
commended as having pleased God.

Enoch did not live like the average person in his day;
therefore he did not die like the average person of his
day. Because how you live will determine how you leave.
