Fall is the best season, and here is why.

By: Sandra Carranza

On the morning of Sept. 22, a cool breeze swept across the U.S. Leaves began to turn golden and
hot coffee cups were filled. Autumn is finally here! Many, like me, love when fall arrives
because it is simply the best time of the year.
And if you are like me, you will agree fall brings about some of the best weather. The days are
never too hot and never too cold. The leaves will change from green to reddish, golden, brownish
hues, and they will fall. For the next three months, there will be no more scorching hot summer
days that make you sweat from unknown places, only the pleasurable coolness of the breeze
reddening your cheeks.
But I understand, many of you are not fond of the cold. To a certain degree, I am not either. That
is why fall is my favorite season, not winter. However, fall does bring about the coziest, warmest
attire in all the glorious fall colors, from turtlenecks, knitted sweaters to long-sleeved flannels.
You will practically be wearing a blanket all day long and it will be totally acceptable!
If you love the attire and all the colors, then you probably also like fall home décor. Even the
process of decorating for fall with your family can be fun. Set out all your warm-toned throw
pillows. Put large and small pumpkins in the corners of your home for a hint of orange. Light a
cinnamon-scented candle on your coffee table as an accent mark and to add some spice in the air.
Be as decorative as your autumn-loving heart desires.
Fall also brings two of the best holidays in the year: Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Halloween will be on Oct. 31 this year. Halloween is perhaps the only holiday in the year when
young and old alike dress up in costumes. Many choose to be the traditional evil witch, while
others become their favorite Disney character. While some do buy their spooky Halloween
costumes, many make them from scratch and take the opportunity to put their creativity to use.
While COVID-19 might make it a little different this year, I still believe Halloween will happen
and will be as fun as one makes it. Even if trick-or-treating might not be possible or not possible
in the same way, I feel like getting candy is not as important as the fun of dressing up for
Halloween with close family and friends.
Thanksgiving has a completely different feel from Halloween, but it is just as important and a
loved holiday of the fall. I mean, what other time of the year do you eat about half a turkey and
limitless apple pie? Thanksgiving is a feast where appetites no longer have limits and you leave
feeling like a stuffed turkey, but are happy about it. For many, extended family finally makes the
drive to visit and give thanks for the many blessings life has to offer. It is a reunion and a feast
nestled in the middle of fall.
Fall is a time of cool weather, pumpkin patches and cable sweaters. Fall is a time of stuffed
turkeys, hot cocoa and spooky costumes. But fall is also a time of family reunions and giving
thanks, especially for making it so far in the year. Despite the virus and any weariness there
might be, we all have so much to be thankful for and fall is the perfect season to celebrate that.
