I wish that the case study manuscripts be submitted at the same time. For this reason, please
talk among yourselves how much time you need to prepare for the case analysis. Afterward,
kindly inform me of your decision. We will only schedule the case presentations when everyone
is ready (i.e., one presenter per meeting). Although the activities under health education are
scheduled last, you can start it ahead of time.

Considering the restrictions that our present CoVID-19 situation imposes on us, we will use the
MMSU Virtual Learning Environment (mVLE) as our platform for teaching and learning activities.
I hope that at this point, you are well-versed already in using this learning platform. Besides, we
cannot have clinical exposure in special areas such as those at the Mariano Marcos Memorial
Hospital and Medical Center. Considering this limitation, I will require you to submit a Journal
Report focused on your actual clinical practice. In case you do not practice in a clinical setting, I
will allow you to get a client in the community, even a family member. This alternative also
applies to the case study. Although you have the freedom to choose your case, please see that
medical conditions are not duplicated. Kindly coordinate with your classmates and inform me of
your client’s condition.

Furthermore, if you could not conduct a health education activity as a group (as a class) through
a webinar, you may have it individually. If done individually, one-on-one teaching with your
client is acceptable. You are required to record the conduct of the health education activity;
whichever scheme is chosen. The health education activity that you will be conducting must be
needs-based. For this reason, you need to do a learning needs assessment before making your
instructional design.

Furthermore, if Internet conditions will not allow us to have synchronous case presentations,
you need to record your presentation and upload it to an assignment folder created for it.
Besides, it would be best to share your comments about each case study in the discussion
forum created exclusively for it. Please provide a copy of your case study to your classmates in
advance for them to participate in the discussion.

For the submission of written outputs (e.g., case studies, learning needs assessment,
instructional design, and journal report) and record of activities (e.g., oral case presentation
and health education), we will use an assignment folder in which you can upload each
requirement.
For feedback on your outputs, you will have it individually. I will also upload files (e.g., guide in
the preparation of case analysis, the format of instructional design, a guide for the journal
report, and rubrics for evaluation) for your reference.

Your grade in this course will be computed based on the following scheme:

Performance Standard (Assessment Criteria)

Class Participation 15%

Case study/presentation 40%

Health education 25%

Journal report 20%

Total 100%

Moreover, you are expected to observe academic integrity. Academic dishonesty and
plagiarism are highly discouraged. Students found to have violated this rule will be sanctioned
based on the instructor’s judgment. Punishment can include but is not restricted to obtaining a
failing grade on the requirement or obtaining a failing grade for the course.

If you have concerns stemming from the above information, you can post your comment in the
discussion forum created for orientation. If you think of other strategies that will promote
better learning in this course, kindly inform me.

You are on your way of making your dream of becoming a master’s degree holder a reality. To
realize your dream, continue to remain steadfast against all the odds. Although there is no
perfect formula for success, persistence, commitment, and devotion to the Almighty God
remain as fundamental ingredients that lead us to greater heights.

I am looking forward to meaningful teaching and learning experiences with you in this course.

Ma’am Gemma D. Galutira
