AIM- I

A. Foreknow

• Definition: To have previous knowledge of; to foresee.


• Foreknowledge of God - one of those high attributes essentially appertaining to him
the full import of which we cannot comprehend. In the most absolute sense his
knowledge is infinite
• Verses:
o Romans 8:29 - For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among
many brethren.
o 1 Peter 1:2 - Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,
through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the
blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
o Acts 2:23 - Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and
foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified
and slain:

B. Predestinate
• Definition: To predetermine or foreordain; to appoint or ordain beforehand
by an unchangeable purpose.
• Verses:
o Ephesians 1:5 - Having predestinated us unto the adoption of
children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure
of his will,
o Acts 4:28 - For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel
determined before to be done.
o Romans 8:29 - For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate
to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many brethren.

C. Choose/elect
• Choose –
o To pick out; to select; to take by way of preference from two or
more things offered; to make choice of.
o To take in preference.
• Elect –
o Properly, to pick out; to select from among two or more, that
which is preferred
o Chosen or designated by God to salvation; predestinated to glory
as the end, and to sanctification as the means; usually with a
plural signification, the elect.

• Verses:
o Luke 18:7 - And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry
day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
o Ephesians 1:4 - According as he hath chosen us in him before the
foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without
blame before him in love:
o 1 Peter 1:2 - Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the

D. Call
• Definition - To cry for help, hence to pray
- To name; to denominate or give a name.
- To request to meet or come.
- To invite
• Verses:
o Romans 1:6 - Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus
Christ:
o 1 Peter 1:15 - But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye
holy in all manner of conversation;
E. Propagation
• Definition - The act of propagating; the continuance or multiplication of the
kind by generation or successive production
- The act of propagating; the continuance or multiplication of the

- The spreading or extension of any thing
• Verses:
o 1 Peter 1:23-25 – (23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed,
but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and
abideth for ever. (24) For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of
man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower
thereof falleth away: (25) But the word of the Lord endureth for
ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto
you.
o Colossians 1:4-6 – (4) Since we heard of your faith in Christ
Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, (5) For the
hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before
in the word of the truth of the gospel; (6) Which is come unto
you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth
also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of
God in truth:
F. Conviction
• Definition - The act of convincing, or compelling one to admit the truth of
a charge
- By conviction a sinner is brought to repentance
- The act of convincing of error
• Verses
o 1 Corinthians 14:24 - But if all prophesy, and there come in one
that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is
judged of all:
o 1 Thessalonians 1:5 - For our gospel came not unto you in word
only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much
assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you
for your sake.
G. Regeneration
• Definition - This word literally means a "new birth."
- Change of heart elsewhere spoken of as a passing from death to
life
- Becoming a new creature in Christ Jesus
- A renewal of the mind
• Verses:
o Titus 3:5 - Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of
regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
o 1 John 3:14 - We know that we have passed from death unto life,
because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother
abideth in death.
o Ephesians 2:6 - And hath raised us up together, and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
H. Sanctification
• Definition - The operation of the grace of God, by which the believer is free
from sin and sin.
- Become devoted to the righteousness of God.
- Separation from the world and separation for the glory of God
is a theme found in the Bible.
• Verses:
o I Peter 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready
always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of
the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
o 2 Thessalonians 2:13 - But we are bound to give thanks alway to
God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from
the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the
Spirit and belief of the truth:
