THE GOOD NEWS
• The Beginning of Jesus’ public ministry was tied with
the ministry of John the Baptist.
• When John began his ministry, Israel had been
longing for John’s message was simple: God was
angry with His people and planned to punish them.

•People must repent and ask for God’s
forgiveness.
•John’s baptism was a sign of repentance
or a change of heart.

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at

would have prevented him, saying, “I need


to be baptized by you, and do you come to
me?”

fulfill all righteousness.” Then he
consented.  And when Jesus had been
 

baptized,
• Just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens
were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God
descending like a dove and alighting on him.  And a voice
from heaven said, “This is my Son, the Beloved,[a] with
whom I am well pleased. - Mt. 3:13-17

being baptized by John.

•It is important to note that Jesus’ temptation


took place immediately after His baptism.
•Jesus is truly man, Jesus had to face
involving serious temptations.
• Jesus was not only tempted once but
throughout His ministry. Even on the cross,
He was mocked and tempted: “ Save
yourself by coming down” (MK 15:29 -32)
