BABY SHOWER

GUIDE 1
Friends gathered here We are called to this celebration by the upcoming arrival of a baby in the home of
our friends _______________________ _________________
Very soon this home will be illuminated by the arrival of a new member to the family and we rejoice
because this baby, fruit of their love as a couple, will be born in our society and will enrich this world and
the Church.
Let us feel joyful and live this moment to the fullest. Let's get ready to have a fraternal and spiritual
meeting in which we only want to ask God to bless ALFREDO, ANGELICA and the baby from now on.
I invite you to begin our celebration in the name of the Father + and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit....

GUIDE 2:
The Son of God, our Lord, when He came into the world, assumed the condition of a child and grew in
wisdom, stature and grace before God and man. Later, he received the children kindly and blessed them.
He highlighted their dignity and even more, he set them as an example for those who truly seek the
Kingdom of God. The psalm rightly compares the children to the olive branches around the family table;
they, in fact, are not only a sign and announcement of the divine blessing, but bear witness to the
efficacious presence of God himself, who, as the giver of the fruitfulness of the children, multiplies their
joy and increases their joy.

GUIDE 1
Let us listen to ___________________ who will read to us a passage from Sacred Scripture and let us pay
attention so that at the end of the reading, we can share a little of what has caught our attention. From the
letter of the Book of Samuel. (1 Sam 1:20-28)

GUIDE 2 MINI REFLECTION

GUIDE 1
Undoubtedly, these reflections are beautiful and enlightening. After having listened to them, I invite you to
give a big round of applause to _________________ and ___________ because God has called them to
live a very special vocation, that of being parents.

GUIDE 2
We are going to give you some signs that have been prepared for you this day as a special gift. Their
friends and family who have brought them here want to express their wish that what they stand for will
become a reality in their next home. Receive them with much affection, because your godparents have
prepared them with much affection.

THE LIT CANDLE:

You have founded a Christian family under the love and union of your hearts before God. At that
moment of their marriage, they said yes to the vocation of being parents when the priest questioned
them and surely at that moment their hearts were enlightened by the hope of seeing their love come
true. Christ is the giver of all light. Christ has called them to be one in him.
THE LIGHT OF GOD is the light of joy that does not turn on with an electric button. The beauty lies
in knowing how to create from nothing. His little son was thus called into existence. May he become
for you from now on the light of hope, the light of faith, the light of charity that you need to continue
to consolidate your love. We wish this baby to be a light to the world and that from his home, he will
always be illuminated with the Light of God.
(The candle is handed to them and they are given a hug)

THE CRUCIFIJO:
A crucifix is a must in a baby's room. The cross is the symbol for Christians of the greatest proof of
God's love that we have. It is the symbol of sacrifice but also of salvation and life. It is not just
another ornament. Give peace to your little son and make him understand that sacrificing for him is
not a burden, but on the contrary, it is for you a way of sanctification. Keep in mind that, as parents
now, you must carry a very heavy cross together, but that you can carry it with joy every day if you
keep Jesus present in your lives.
(The cross is handed to them and they are given a hug).

WIPES:
Diapers try to prevent the baby from being dirty and protect him from diseases that put his health at
risk. They absorb all debris and impurities so that they can be easily disposed of. You will need to be
vigilant in protecting your little one from anything that could or would harm him or her. Do not forget
that evil is always lurking and that only the grace of a spiritual and sacramental life will allow you to
detect in time and with clarity the dirt or waste that must be eliminated in your family. They have the
Holy Spirit ready to lend them a hand. Invoke it in your home every day.
(They are given diapers and are given a hug).

BABEROS:
It is very important to teach good habits if you get him used to bring his body and clothes clean, he
will get used to cleanliness. the same for the soul. Educate his character, for that methodical effort is
required from childhood. with temperament is born but with character is forged with the will not of
what he feels but what to do, do not give him everything he asks for or accede to his tantrums,
remember "iron hand with kid gloves"(bibs are delivered and they are given a hug).

SONAJA:
The rattle is an instrument that helps parents to brighten up their child's life. With the rattle, the baby
is distracted and manages to calm his crying. When the rattle sounds, the baby knows that all is well.
Be like a rattle in the hands of God. May He be the one who moves and stirs them so that they will
surely become the joy and comfort of your little one in the moments when he has to cry or feels
lonely. Give yourselves the opportunity to let yourselves be molded by God, so that you may know at
what moment you should "sound" and at what moment you should be silent. If they have to "ring"
loudly and repeatedly to correct him, or if on the contrary, they should only be safety instruments in
your baby's hands. (The rattle is handed to them and they are given a hug).

TALC and LOTION:

The freshness of your little one's skin is important. Keeping it dry and fresh all day long makes it
healthy. Let's remember that the scent that a baby emanates is unmistakable and pleasant to anyone.
When we say it "smells like a baby" we know it smells clean, it smells special. ALFREDO AND
ANGELICA never forget to have the "talcum powder" and the "perfume" of love and forgiveness
between you. If anything can keep your child healthy and perfumed in the face of a world that lives
every day in the midst of violence and misunderstanding, it is to know that his parents love each other
over their mistakes and forgive each other over their disagreements. There is nothing more damaging
to the pure heart of a child than not understanding the absence of love in the home. The smell of that
perfume must be in every corner of your home. Let your child always breathe it in, so that he can
emanate it wherever he goes. (They are given talcum powder and lotion and are given a hug).
SOAP, SHAMPOO and FOAM:
The bathtub soap and sponge always go together when taking a bath. Sometimes Your __________
will take the role of the soap and sometimes the role of the sponge. Likewise you _____________
will sometimes be the sponge and sometimes the soap. Soap scorches and cleans gently. The sponge
however, carves and removes the dirt more deeply. May this sign help you to remember the mutual
support you should always have as parents in correcting your child and helping him or her grow. Do
not be afraid to use the soap of words and advice a few times, nor be afraid to use the sponge of
firmness when correcting him. Remember that love shampoo will make your mission more effective.
(Shampoo, soap and sponge are handed to them and they are given a hug).

CLOTHING:
The clothes I give you will cover your baby from the cold and will allow him/her to be protected
from the sun, rain and wind. The baby will wear the clothes all his life and they should fit him. It will
be necessary to provide it with what it needs as it grows. May this sign remind you that your child
will be your child all his life and will always need you, but that your presence and intervention as
parents should be in accordance with his age, fair and judicious. In the Sagrada Familia they have a
great example. Entrust yourselves to her and trust that God watches over every step you take in her
name.
(The clothes are given to them and they are given a hug)

IMAGE OF THE VIRGIN MARY:

At the end of these gifts I want to give you the Virgin Mary. His life was not easy, but he always
knew how to say YES when it came to doing God's will. He said YES to the unknown with full
confidence. She said YES to the marvelous, to being the Mother of the Word of God. She said YES
when she fled with her baby in her arms to Egypt no matter how difficult the journey. He said YES to
educate him freely and let him go when the time came. He said YES to fully enjoy family and
community life. But He also said YES when He had to give up His Son on the cross and watch Him
die.
May she be your example. Always turn to her with the confidence that she will understand you and
assist you maternally. With her by their side, they will never lack the guidance and protection of the
one who always knew how to be a mother.(The image of the Virgin is given to them and they are
embraced).

GUIDE 1
Let us thank God for this moment. Let us say together the same prayer that Jesus taught us, asking that
___________ and ____________ know how to be faithful to the vocation that God has given them as
Christian parents.
ALL: OUR FATHER.

GUIDE 2 :
Now, let's implore God's blessing on ALFREDO together.
(Parents come to the center. Everyone stands up and extends their right hand towards them and repeats)

O God, author and protector of human life, who has given these children of yours the gift of being parents,
deign to accept our praise and listen with kindness to what we ask of you: that you keep them and their
child from all evil, that you always accompany them on the path of this life and that, in due time, you
welcome them into the happiness of your eternal dwelling place. AMEN.

GUIDE 1
We reached the end of the spiritual part of our meeting. Let's give another round of applause to ________
and ____________ and continue to commend them to the Lord.
PRAYER OF A PREGNANT WOMAN

Father in heaven,
I have in my womb now
a little one, weak and vulnerable,
who is already transforming my whole body
and my whole heart.
Thank you for entrusting it to me!

Thank you for allowing me to welcome him

as Mary welcomed Jesus
on the day of the Annunciation!
Thank you for being able to welcome it as my mother welcomed me
when she felt my presence
in the most intimate part of her being.

Father who loves us, I am in awe of this life

so secret and pulsating,
so fragile and full of promise.
Thank you for having given me the eyes of the heart,
that allow me to see this child
at a time when he is not yet visible.

Father full of tenderness,

help me to do every day what I can do
so that this child may be happy.
I ask You, Father of all grace,
to be able to transmit to this child,
all the faith, hope and love
that I carry in my heart.

Finally, I beg you, Father, to keep us

under your protection, my son
who is yours first, and me,
now and forever.

Amen.
