Advantages and disadvantages of owning a car

Every day watching the news we hear about fatal car accidents. Nobody can even
be protected 100% from this disaster. One research has shown that a car is the most
dangerous vehicle in the world. However, cars help us a lot in our daily routine –
so we need to look at both sides of the story.
The most important advantage is that cars are convenient to use. They give us
more personal freedom. We can decide for ourselves where and when we want to
travel without having to rely on anyone else. What is more, going by car is much
faster rather than by bus.
On the other hand, there are a lot of careless people who do not take seriously
driving a car. For instance, they let themselves drive a car being drunk or talk on
the phone while driving. Only because of this there are plenty of deaths every year.
Another disadvantage is that cars pollute the air. Exhaust fumes are one of the
major causes of air pollution and as a result, our health is at risk as well as the
environment.
Taking everything into account, it can be said that cars are really dangerous, even
if you do not use it. As Albert Einstein once said, ‘Any man who can drive safely
while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves’.
From my point of view, people should be more careful with cars. I hope, that one
day society will invent an alternative to cars which will be much safer for people.
