1. The thermometer measures to the nearest 2 degrees. The temperature was measured as 38°C.
Calculate the accuracy, absolute error, relative error and percentage error.

2. A plant is measured to be 80cm high (to the nearest cm), calculate the accuracy, absolute error,
relative and percentage of error.

3. Aina measured the field to the nearest metre, and got a width of 6m, and a length of 8m.
Calculate the accuracy of width, length, the smallest possible area, measured area and the
largest possible area. (Hint: Measuring to the nearest meter means the true value could be up to
half a meter smaller or larger)

4. Alec measured the width and height of a rectangle, but was only able to measure them to the
nearest centimeter. He recorded the width as 8 cm and the height as 5 cm. Calculate the
smallest and largest possible area A cm2 of the rectangle to the nearest cm?

5. Foo Ming measured the length, width and height of a cuboid, each to the nearest cm. She
recorded the length as 9 cm, the width as 2 cm and the height as 3 cm. Calculate the smallest
and largest possible volume V cm3 of the cuboid to the nearest cm?

6. Vanessa wanted to find the area of a circular mat. She measured the diameter of the mat as 80
in, but the actual diameter was 78 in. What is the relative error in her area calculation to the
nearest thousandth?
