Kaguya grew quickly and with

astonishing beauty with every passing

day, The old man attempted to hide his
good fortune from the leering public,

One day while cutting bamboo,

an old man named Taketori no
Okina came across a mysterious,
shining stalk. When he cut into it,
he was surprised to find a tiny
infant that could in the palm of
his hand.

The old man took the infant in ,

raising her as his own and gave
her the name Kaguya. From that
day on, the old man was blessed
with a small fortune every time
he cut into a bamboo stalk.
 Amongst Kaugya’s many
suitor’s and the old mans
growing wealth, the pair
decided to move within
the city bounds. The old
man thought bringing his
daughter within the city
would give her better
opportunities and a more
prosperous life for the
future.

Despite his efforts, the

old mans wealth and the
beauty of his daughter
spread throughout the
land.
Many suitors desired
Kaguya and often sought
her out to see her fawless
beauty.
However, being in such a crowded
environment only brought more
unwanted attention towards Kaguya and
the old man. The persistent glances grew
everyday and Kaguya was never at peace,

She longed for

nothing more then
feel at peace and
prayed to find her
place in the universe.
She often dreamt of
the bamboo forests
from which she was
first found with the
moon forever present
 Kaguya thought long and hard about the moons offer. She
approached the old man and explained what happened. He begged
for her to stay with him but her longing to belong was too strong. She
loved the old man and was happy at times but the greed for wealth
and beauty became obvious over the years to Kaguya and her soul
never felt at rest within this life.
She explained to the old man how she had chosen to leave the next
full moon... to return home.

The following night, as

if hearing her pleas, the
moon spoke to Kaguya.
The voice’s spoke of
her true origins and her
identity as being the
princess of the moon.
Kaguya was offered the
choice to return home
and to leave her mortal
life behind.
When the next full moon
rose into the sky, Kaguya was
greeted with the familiar light
that surrounded her soul - her
yellow glow that mimicked the
moon light throughout her life
shone more brightly then ever
before as she was shrouded But as Kaguya turned to face her destiny, her own tears
in clean white robes. Turning streamed down her face as she prepares to mourn
back to see the old man in the life she was leaving. Her tears glowed within the
tears upon her departure, she sky as stars from that day forward, Her beauty forever
offered a gentle smile and a mentioned from that day forward, for as she remembered
soft touch to clean his tears as if her life, the life she left remembered her.
