This Maintenance Instruction (W) applies to the following Jenbacher Gas Engines:
• Type 2 engines
• Type 3 engines
• Type 4 engines
• Type 6 engines

2 Purpose
This Maintenance Instruction (W) describes the maintenance interval.

4 Safety information

WARNING
Danger from unauthorised start-up!
Ø Shut down the engine as described in TA 1100-0105.
Ø Secure the engine against unauthorised restarting in accordance with TA 2300-0010.

WARNING
Personal injury
Failure to use personal protective equipment and comply with safety instructions or employee
protection information may lead to personal injury.
Ø Wear the relevant personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ø Observe the safety instructions as per TA 2300-0005.
Ø Observe the employee protection information as per TA 2300-0001.

5 Additional information
The original engine will be completely overhauled or, to minimise plant downtime, replaced by a pre-assembled
replacement engine.

After the major overhaul, maintenance operations are repeated at the intervals
specified in the maintenance schedule.

6 Engine overhaul
This activity is to be carried out by GE or a company selected by GE authorised to carry out this work.
• Replacing the camshaft
• Inspecting the crankshaft
• Inspecting the crankcase
• Inspecting the gear train
• Inspecting the cylinder heads
• Replace piston, cylinder liner, main bearing, connecting rod bearing and vibration damper

CAUTION
Following the overhaul, the engine must be commissioned according to TA
1400-0100 „Running-in procedure for GE Distributed Power engines“!
The engine must not be subjected to loads immediately!
