- Brief history: The parish was established in 1877 and originally covered the
entire town of Rodriguez at the slopes and foothills of the Sierra Madre

known in town as “Padre Quako”. The old Spanish church constructed upon
the establishment of the parish served the townsfolk well for decades and
sustained the heavy damages caused during the World War. The Church was
used as an army garrison by the Japanese soldiers during the war. Thus, it was
a major preoccupation and undertaking of the pastors and parishioners in the
post-war years, to renovate the Church and convent. Now, when the Diocese
of Antipolo was established in 1983, the parish of Our Lady of the Most Holy
Rosary, which by then had already crossed the centennial milestone of its

PART 2: Reflection
1. What is your perspective on the community development programs and /or social
action activities implemented in your place of worship?
- I think that the programs and social actions that my parish have started are
really “makabayan” and very diverse in a sense that all the people can join
different programs based from their ages. I also noticed that most of the
programs that they do helps the people from impoverished communities in
Rizal which is great because even though they aren’t really part of the
government, they still take initiative to help the poor in the community.
2. Knowing the challenges your place of worship encountered, as a Christian/Muslim,
how will you respond to the call of these circumstances?
- In total honesty, I am not really that cooperative in my parish and I am not
part of any ministry in the Church and because of that, I just hope that the
administrative staff in my parish handles their situations well in order to avoid
having difficulties.
3. As a Thomasian, how can you exhibit the 3 core values in responding to the
challenges and threats in uplifting human dignity?
- As a Thomasian and as a person, I believe that I can show to people in our
country that each and every one of us has dignity and we should be able to
know how to respect each other so no one would feel violated. I can exhibit
the 3 core values of the university by giving this as an example of how we
should protect our own dignity towards other people who seem to challenge
us.
